Overview of Baroque Works
- Crocodile led the notorious Baroque Works, which consisted of nine unique officer agents.
- Several members, including Miss Valentine and Mr. 5, possessed formidable Devil Fruit abilities.
- High-ranking agents Miss Doublefinger and Mr. 1 transitioned from their roles to pursue personal dreams.
Baroque Works, a now-defunct criminal enterprise from One Piece, was founded by Crocodile with the ambitious goal of seizing control of Alabasta. Each member adopted an alias, represented by a numerical rank indicative of their strength and intended role in the conquest of Alabasta, a plan orchestrated by Crocodile, who was known as Mr. 0. Aside from Crocodile and his key associate, Miss All Sunday, the organization’s force lay in the hands of its nine officer agents.
Structured in pairs, each male officer agent worked alongside a female counterpart, maximizing their combat effectiveness. Below are the officer agents of Baroque Works, listed according to their ranking from weakest to strongest.
1 Miss Goldenweek
A Perfunctory Painter
- Debut: Chapter 117 (Manga); Episode 70 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: None
Commonly referred to as Marianne, Miss Goldenweek is partnered with Mr. 3 and is known for her apathetic disposition towards conflict. A burgeoning artist, her objective is to establish herself as a ‘true artist’. Unique among the officers, she does not wield a Devil Fruit but instead possesses the ability to hypnotize opponents through colorful paint, known as Colors Trap. Each color evokes a different emotional response, rendering even the most simplistic minds like Monkey D. Luffy susceptible. Though she displayed some combat influence, her lack of direct fighting capabilities led her to retire post-Baroque Works disbandment.
2 Miss Valentine
Crushing the Competition
- Debut: Chapter 110 (Manga); Episode 65 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Kiro Kiro no Mi
Mikita, known as Miss Valentine, embraces her sadistic tendencies, often delighting in the misfortune of others. Her Devil Fruit grants her the unique trait of weight manipulation, allowing her to shift between 1 and 10,000 kilograms. At a lighter weight, she can glide on breezes, while at a heavier weight, she can incapacitate foes through sheer pressure. Despite not being entirely ineffective in battle, her combat skills were evidently overshadowed by her opponents, leading to her quick defeat against Vivi and Nami.
3 Mr. 5
An Explosive Combatant
- Debut: Chapter 110 (Manga); Episode 65 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Bomu Bomu no Mi
Gem, alias Mr. 5, embodies arrogance as the lowest-ranked officer. His Devil Fruit permits him to create and consume explosions, resulting in unique combat techniques. However, beyond his explosive capabilities, he lacks physical strength and was ultimately subdued effortlessly by Luffy and Zoro.
4 Mr. 4
Strong but Slow
- Debut: Chapter 160 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: None (Acquisition includes a bazooka with Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Dachshund)
Standing at an imposing 7’2″, Babe, or Mr. 4, exhibits brute strength that is tempered by a lack of intelligence. He wields a 4-ton bat to strike explosive baseballs shot from his sentient bazooka, Lassoo. While he showcases physical power, his reliance on creative strategies with Miss Merry Christmas to maximize combat effectiveness creates a notable dependency.
5 Miss Merry Christmas
She Can Dig It
- Debut: Chapter 160 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Mogu Mogu no Mi
Drophy, also known as Miss Merry Christmas, displays leadership skills wherein she directs Mr. 4 in battle. Able to transform into a mole, she can create extensive underground networks for stealthy attacks. Although capable, she remains one of the lower-ranked agents due to the dominance of more powerful members.
6 Mr. 3
A Sophisticated Sculptor
- Debut: Chapter 117 (Manga); Episode 70 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Doru Doru no Mi
Galdino, or Mr. 3, is a strategist renowned for his cunning rather than brute force. His wax-based Devil Fruit power allows him to create versatile structures for various tactical advantages. His artistic inclinations enable him to produce intricate sculptures that combine practicality with aesthetic value, enhancing his legacy as one of the few agents to maintain relevance post-disbandment.
7 Mr. 2 Bon Clay
Inmate Running the Asylum
- Debut: Chapter 129 (Manga); Episode 78 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Mane Mane no Mi
Bentham, or Mr. 2 Bon Clay, is a loyal figure who transcends typical villain roles through his selfless deeds. His transformative abilities allow him to impersonate others, facilitating unorthodox combat strategies. Having saved Luffy multiple times, Bon Clay’s journey evolved into one that underscored his dedication to comradeship, ultimately leading him to establish a significant position within Newkama Land after his time with Baroque Works.
8 Miss Doublefinger
Sharp to the Touch
- Debut: Chapter 155 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Toge Toge no Mi
Zala, aka Miss Doublefinger, held the position of the highest-ranked female officer, embracing her formidable physical capabilities. Her Devil Fruit empowers her with the ability to sprout spikes from her body, making her an intimidating presence in combat. Despite her power, she chose a path away from conflict, favoring her true ambition of running Spiders Cafe alongside former colleagues from Baroque Works.
9 Mr. 1
A Blade Man, Not a Swordsman
- Debut: Chapter 160 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
- Devil Fruit: Supa Supa no Mi
Daz Bonez, known as Mr. 1, is recognized as Crocodile’s most loyal agent and exhibits formidable martial prowess, combined with his unique Devil Fruit abilities, which transform his body into steel blades. Mr. 1’s allegiance has remained steadfast, showing his dedication as they traverse the tumultuous waters of the New World, making significant contributions to Crocodile’s ambitions through his new role in Cross Guild.
