Ralan Styles’ Real Name Revealed: Baby Shark Remix Rapper Shot Dead at 22 During Robbery Attempt

On October 19, 2024, 22-year-old rapper Ralan Styles tragically lost his life during an attempted robbery in which he was shot while defending his chain. The artist, whose birth name was Michael Robinson, succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Saturday at a residence in Columbus, Ohio.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Styles was shot several times during the conflict that ensued after a suspect allegedly attempted to rob him. Authorities arrived on the scene shortly after 5 am, followed by emergency medical technicians who attempted to perform CPR on the rapper. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead just ten minutes later, at 5:10 am.

Ralan Styles rose to fame with his viral 2022 remix of the beloved children’s song Baby Shark. His unique rap rendition attracted over 1.7 million views on YouTube since its release on September 6, 2022, ultimately leading to a recording contract with Republic Records.

Suspect Arrested Following Ralan Styles’ Shooting

The suspect, 24-year-old Mahamood Hassan, was apprehended by police based on eyewitness testimonies. Hassan, who had previous convictions for trespassing and theft, has been charged with murder and is currently held at Franklin County Jail. He is set to appear in court on October 21.

The untimely passing of Ralan Styles sparked an outpouring of tributes across social media platforms, spearheaded by his older brother, rapper Lil Goat. He expressed his grief on Instagram, stating:

“Not my little brother, man. I’m still waiting for you to call me and reveal that this is all just a prank. My heart is shattered, and life will never be the same. We went from rapping together at the lunch table in middle school to becoming stars.”

He added:

“We shared everything, from sleeping on the floor to signing our first contract together. I love you, bro, and you’ll always be alive in my heart. Look out for me up there. Rest in peace, my little brother. Save me a place.”

Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate Ralan Styles’ legacy, expressing gratitude for his music and recognizing his impressive freestyle skills.

Friend Jared Krumm remembered Styles as “funny, energetic, and exceptionally talented,”commenting that his vibrant spirit “will NEVER be forgotten.”

“There was never a boring moment with you, whether we were in the studio, hanging out in Jake’s basement, or driving to McDonald’s. Your energy will always be missed and I’m heartbroken writing this. Life isn’t always fair. Rest in peace, Ralan. Sending prayers to your family and friends,”he shared.

Michael Robinson, known in the music world as Ralan Styles, was raised in the Bay Area, drawing inspiration from jazz and funk. In 2020, he teamed up with his brother to create the track Dancing with the Devil. That same year, he released his debut single It’s All Good, followed by his first album, Radiance, in January 2021.

His Baby Shark remix catapulted him to success, with other notable tracks including Hocus Pocus and Polyamorous.
