Ubisoft Confirms Rainbow Six Siege X with Upcoming Showcase
In an exciting announcement during the Six Invitational eSports tournament, Ubisoft has officially confirmed the existence of Rainbow Six Siege X, following earlier rumors. A detailed showcase event is slated for March 13 at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CET, which will be streamed on the Rainbow Six Siege Twitch channel. For those in Atlanta, Georgia, the event will also be open for live attendance, promising an engaging experience for fans.
Currently, Year 10 of Rainbow Six Siege is set to launch with the first season titled Operation Prep Phase. This season is expected to feature a new Operator named Rauora, who hails from New Zealand and will debut alongside the new Battle Pass. Players can immediately access her, and she will become unlockable with either Renown or R6 Credits two weeks after the launch.
Meet Rauora: The Newest Operator
Rauora is equipped with formidable weaponry, including the 417 sniper rifle or the M249 light machine gun as primary options. For secondary weapons, she may choose between the GSH-18 9mm pistol and the newly introduced Reaper MK2 submachine gun, which boasts a red dot sight and extended magazine, enhancing her effectiveness in close-quarters combat. Rauora’s arsenal also includes smoke grenades or breach charges, making her a versatile addition to the team.
Innovative Gadget: Deployable Omnilink Mesh (D. O.M.) Launcher
One of Rauora’s standout features is her gadget, the Deployable Omnilink Mesh (D. O.M.) Launcher. This sophisticated gadget creates a bulletproof smart cover in doorways. When activated, it provides a protective panel that extends from the doorway to the ground. Unique to Rainbow Six Siege, this mechanism can sense nearby drones; when a drone approaches, the panel momentarily raises to allow passage, then closes completely.
Rauora’s bulletproof barriers can effectively obstruct enemy sightlines and alter their movement strategies, all while she remains positioned at a safe distance. To facilitate movement for herself and her allies, there’s a rectangular trigger atop each panel. This mechanism requires an Operator to activate it for passing through; attacks by allies or enemies lead to instantaneous responses of opening or closing the panel.
Both Attackers and Defenders can utilize these panels, but Attackers hold a slight edge. Initially locking the Defenders out after deployment, the triggers only recognize Attacker presence, speeding up their movement through the door. This enables the attacking team to manipulate the tempo of gameplay, potentially catching their foes off guard.
Strategic Synergies and Considerations
Strategically pairing Rauora with Operators like Ying or Fuze can significantly amplify the offensive impact against opponents.
However, Ubisoft cautions that while Rauora’s panels are bulletproof, they lack blast resistance. They cannot displace Castle barricades and will not function under Tubarão’s Zoto Canister influence. Additionally, Jäger’s Active Defense System can neutralize them before deployment, necessitating careful planning and timing during gameplay.
Players can expect to try out Operation Prep Phase next week, with a full release scheduled for the following month. As for Rainbow Six Siege X, while no specific launch date has been confirmed, leaks suggest a connection to the release of the second season of Year 10.
