Recent trends indicate a pronounced preference for AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs in Germany, particularly with the RX 9000 series. However, it’s noteworthy that not every model is enjoying the same level of success, with some variants remaining unsold on store shelves.
AMD RX 9070 XT Achieves Nearly 640 Units Sold, While NVIDIA’s Combined RTX 50 Sales Total 655; 16 GB Models Represent Closest to 80% Market Share at Mindfactory
Insights from one of Germany’s largest hardware retailers reveal shifts in consumer behavior regarding graphics card purchases. Recent data demonstrates a robust demand for AMD’s RX 9070 XT, which has emerged as a favored choice, notably outpacing NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series models like the RTX 5070. Data from last week unveils additional details about popular VRAM preferences among gamers and sales by manufacturer.
Thanks to the diligent research of @TechEpiphanyYT, it becomes clear that the Radeon RX 9070 XT is not just the top contender in sales at Mindfactory but also comes remarkably close to matching the total sales of NVIDIA’s entire GeForce RTX 50 lineup. The RX 9070 XT surpassed 640 units sold last week, while the most popular NVIDIA GPU in this series, the RTX 5080, is gaining traction after taking over previous offerings in the 60 and 70 class.

A competitive pricing strategy contributes to the RTX 5080’s recent surge, with discounts making it approximately 100-150 Euros less expensive than its official MSRP. This strategy enables consumers to find many RTX 5080 units priced just above 1000 Euros, narrowing the cost difference between it and the RTX 5070 Ti. Nonetheless, despite these price reductions, the RX 9070 XT continues to dominate, further bolstered by the successful sales of the RX 9060 XT, which sold around 370 units—97% of which were the 16 GB variant, while the 8 GB version saw negligible sales.

Interestingly, the RX 9070 non-XT model recorded only 20 sales, trailing even behind older generation GPUs. This lackluster performance can be attributed to subpar pricing by AMD. Additionally, VRAM capacity significantly impacts sales; data indicates that 78.5% of graphics cards sold had 16 GB VRAM, far surpassing the 8 GB models, which accounted for just 7.8%.This disparity is further highlighted by the sales figures for various models, such as the RX 9060 XT 16 GB, which sold nearly 360 units compared to a mere 10 for the 8 GB variant. The trend is mirrored in NVIDIA’s offerings, where the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB sold 120 units against just 25 for the 8 GB version.

When analyzing vendor preferences, XFX stands out as the preeminent distributor for AMD cards, capturing nearly 26% of the market share. Close on its heels is PowerColor, with a 24.0% share. Meanwhile, other vendors that provide either NVIDIA products or a mix of both brands lag significantly behind. In regions where NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series dominates, brands like ASUS, GIGABYTE, and MSI are more prevalent.
