In a noteworthy development in the GPU market, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is beginning to appear in new regions just two months after its initial launch. This rapid expansion signifies a shift in AMD’s distribution strategy, aimed at making the GPU more accessible sooner than previous versions.
ASRock’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Launches in Hong Kong
Traditionally, AMD’s Radeon GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) graphics cards were launched predominantly in China, gradually becoming available in international markets over time. Historically, these cards have reached global audiences approximately a year after their debut in mainland China. However, the introduction of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, initially available only in China two months ago, is breaking this trend, now making its way to Taiwan and Hong Kong much sooner than earlier models.
The first retail launch in Taiwan is expected to feature the Sapphire edition. In parallel, Felton Distribution, a prominent computer retailer in Hong Kong, has announced the upcoming availability of the ASRock Radeon RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark 12GB OC edition. Even though the product page might not be easily accessible on ASRock’s main website, it can be viewed on the Taiwanese subdomain. This move underscores ASRock’s position as one of the three manufacturers alongside ASUS and Sapphire producing this card.

The RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark edition features an impressive boost clock of 2920 MHz, surpassing the reference edition by 130 MHz. Additionally, it incorporates a triple fan design and is equipped with dual 8-pin PCIe connectors, ensuring robust power delivery. This GPU boasts 3072 Stream Processors and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, effectively occupying a niche between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070, while closely competing with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070.

As for its potential availability in other international markets, while there is optimism about a broader rollout, it may still take several months before the GPU reaches additional regions. With an anticipated price point under $500, the RX 9070 GRE represents an excellent value proposition for mid-range gamers. Although it offers lower VRAM compared to rivals like the RX 9060 XT 16 GB and the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, its performance outstrips those models.
At 1440p resolution, 12 GB of VRAM is generally sufficient for a wide range of video games. However, those seeking greater longevity in terms of performance might consider investing in the RX 9070 XT, albeit at a higher price point.
