Recently, an unusual situation unfolded regarding Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Dev Kit, a compact PC priced at $899, featuring Windows 11 and the cutting-edge Snapdragon X Elite processor. In a surprising move, Qualcomm announced the instant discontinuation of this product, promising full refunds for all orders, including those already fulfilled, while also ending all support. The company cited that the device “has not achieved our established standards of excellence.”
According to the communication Qualcomm sent to its customers (as reported by XDA):
At Qualcomm, we strive to be at the forefront of technological innovation and to provide exceptional experiences for our esteemed customers. The release of over 30 Snapdragon X-series powered PCs showcases our capability to advance technology and highlights the industry’s eagerness to adopt our next-generation solutions. However, the Developer Kit has unfortunately not fulfilled our high standards of quality, leading us to the decision to suspend this product and all related support indefinitely.
