New Task Notifications Feature in Microsoft Teams’ Project Manager
Microsoft has made an exciting announcement regarding the Project Manager for Planner within Teams, introducing real-time task notifications. This enhancement aims to keep users well-informed about task completions, ensuring effective project management and streamlined communication.
How Notifications Work
Users will now receive timely notifications in their Teams Activity feed under two specific circumstances:
- When the Project Manager successfully completes its assigned task.
- When the Project Manager requires urgent input or action from you.

The introduction of these notifications not only helps users stay updated with ongoing tasks but also promotes swift action when necessary. Microsoft emphasizes that these alerts foster greater accountability among team members and enhance the likelihood of meeting project deadlines confidently.
Default Settings and Customization Options
Fortunately, these notifications are enabled by default, allowing users to benefit from them immediately without any additional setup. However, if you prefer not to receive these notifications, you can easily disable them by adjusting your preferences in the Teams settings, specifically under Planner notifications.
Available Licenses and Feedback
This feature is accessible to users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, ensuring that all assignees on tasks are alerted regarding updates from the Project Manager agent. Should you encounter any issues, Microsoft encourages users to provide feedback through the app’s built-in feedback feature.
