PUBG Ceases Support for PS4 and Xbox One; Playable Only on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S After November 2025

PUBG Studios Phases Out Support for Legacy Consoles

PUBG Studios has made headlines with its recent announcement regarding the discontinuation of support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).This strategic shift will focus solely on the current-generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, along with the PC version of the game.

Transition to Current-Generation Consoles

In a statement shared on the official PUBG website, the studio emphasized that this transition aligns with their 2025 roadmap: “Starting November 13, 2025, PUBG Console will be supported exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.”The move is deemed essential in their goal to enhance the gaming experience for players by offering a more stable and seamless environment.

Emotional Farewell to Legacy Players

The studio expressed deep appreciation for the loyal community that has supported PUBG on older consoles.“It weighs heavily on us to deliver this news to our console players who have enjoyed PUBG on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for so many years, ”they stated. They fondly recalled the thrilling moments and connections forged over nearly a decade of gameplay, asserting that the decision to discontinue support was not made lightly, but rather after extensive deliberation aimed at ensuring the game’s long-term viability.

Account Preservation and Transition Process

Players using PS4 and Xbox One can breathe a sigh of relief, as their accounts will remain secure after the transition on November 13, 2025. Upon logging into a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S device, players will find their accounts intact, with no complicated transfer process required. The only additional step for PlayStation users will be to download the native PS5 version of PUBG, as the PS4 version will exist as a separate application and will not be functional on the newer Console.

Enhanced Gaming Experience on Next-Gen Consoles

Once the transition occurs, players on the PS5 can expect a remarkable gaming experience, with a base resolution of 1440p at 60 frames per second (FPS).For those using the PS5 Pro, the gameplay will be enhanced to a stunning 4K resolution at 60FPS. Furthermore, Xbox Series S users will have the option to choose between 1080p at 60FPS or 1440p at 30FPS, while the Xbox Series X will deliver a full 4K experience at 60FPS.
