Daesung of BIGBANG Suspends D’s Wave Encore Asia Tour Due to Throat Health Concerns

BIGBANG’s Daesung has officially announced the early termination of his D’s Wave Encore Asia tour, citing persistent throat health issues as the primary reason for this difficult decision.

On January 17, 2026, D-Label, Daesung’s agency under R&D Company, communicated to fans that the tour will conclude following the Osaka concert scheduled for later this month, with all remaining dates for the first half of 2026 canceled. This announcement came after extensive consultations with medical professionals, highlighting the importance of prioritizing the artist’s vocal health.

In their statement, Daesung’s agency expressed gratitude towards fans for their unwavering support during the 2025 Asia Tour: D’s Wave and the subsequent encore series. Initially launched in Seoul on April 26, 2025, the tour covered 11 vibrant cities across Asia, stopping in notable locations such as Hong Kong, Kobe, and Sydney, as reported by allkpop.

The encore series commenced with a series of three sold-out events in Seoul from January 2 to 4, 2026, at TicketLink Live Arena, showcasing Daesung’s commitment to providing his fans with memorable performances.

In a heartfelt message addressed to fans via his official fan platform, Daesung conveyed his frustration over the slow recovery of his voice.“My voice is not returning to its normal condition as fast as I would like it to, which is leading me to spend my days fretting in frustration, ”he shared. He further remarked on the challenging moments artists face, stating, “Sometimes one must face reality and endure moments of suffering in order to shine brighter when the time is right, ”as reported by the Korea Herald.

Notably, Daesung had encountered throat issues during the Seoul encore performances, where he considered canceling but ultimately overcame his challenges. Despite his struggles, he delivered remarkable two-hour concerts featuring a repertoire of 20 songs, including popular BIGBANG tracks and his solo pieces.

The tour’s cancellation occurs as BIGBANG gears up for an anticipated 20th-anniversary comeback in 2026, which includes their performance at Coachella in April. This event is highly awaited by fans and marks a significant milestone for the group.

Additionally, Taeyang, another member of BIGBANG, made a special guest appearance during the Seoul shows, further teasing upcoming group activities. The current BIGBANG lineup consists of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, who will all reunite for their first performance since 2017, according to The Beat.

This marking cancellation is the second such incident for Daesung’s D’s Wave tour, as the Melbourne concert was previously canceled in July 2025. Fans who purchased tickets for the encore performances that have been called off can expect to receive refund information from the organizers soon.
