“Proving Critics Right: DJ Akademiks Highlights Kendrick Lamar’s Hypocrisy Amid Metro Boomin Controversy”
A woman named Vanessa LeMaistre has initiated legal action against Leland Tyler Wayne, known as Metro Boomin, citing an alleged incident of rape that occurred in 2016, as reported by court documents obtained by TMZ. Following the announcement of the lawsuit, DJ Akademiks discussed the matter during a live broadcast on Twitch.
In a brief segment shared on Akademiks’ X account on October 30, the 33-year-old reflected on the allegations made by Vanessa LeMaistre, contemplating their potential validity or lack thereof. He also touched on Kendrick Lamar’s connection to Boomin, stating:
“What this highlights is the pretentiousness of someone like Kendrick. I’m not turning this into a Kendrick issue. But when Kendrick panders with, ‘Oh, so and so is facing a case,’ it raises questions.”
The influencer elaborated, adding:
“I highly doubt we’ll hear any commentary from Kendrick, and that’s appropriate. However, it serves as a reminder to those who idolize Kendrick like he’s infallible. This is akin to what has been alleged against dozens of others.”
Akademiks referenced a verse from Kendrick’s diss track aimed at Drake that mentioned Baka Not Nice, who had been a friend of Drake’s and signed under OVO Sound. Baka faced serious legal issues in 2014 related to human trafficking. Kendrick’s lyrics included, “Baka got a weird case, why is he around?”
DJ Akademiks further discussed Kendrick Lamar’s affiliations with Dr. Dre, pointing out Dre’s previous allegations of violence against women. He called out Kendrick for associating with artists facing serious accusations, despite having criticized Drake for similar connections.
Continuing his commentary on Kendrick, Akademiks stated:
“…he tries to present his associates as morally immaculate, despite the troubling events we are witnessing now.”
A Closer Look at Metro Boomin’s Role in the Drake-Kendrick Feud Amid the Lawsuit
DJ Akademiks has been actively analyzing the ongoing rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar since it reignited in April 2024. Following J. Cole’s comments where he dubbed Kendrick, Drake, and himself as “the big three”in the collaboration track “First Person Shooter,”Kendrick released a response in a song with Future and Boomin titled “Like That.”
As the feud intensified, Drake released two additional tracks that seemed to challenge Kendrick. This culminated in April when Kendrick dropped the sharp diss track “Euphoria,”sparking a series of counterattacks between the two artists.
Kendrick’s lyrics alleged grooming against Drake and suggested that certain members of Drake’s OVO crew were involved in sexual assault legal issues.
Metro Boomin commented on the escalation of the Drake-Kendrick beef during the 2024 Forbes Under 30 Summit on September 24, expressing:
“The competition is great for the genre. Hip-hop thrives on its competitive nature, and while it may seem serious, it’s fundamentally about the music.”
He noted how ego is a crucial element in hip-hop, where artists are expected to believe they are the best, emphasizing:
“When two of the top figures in the industry each feel they are the best.”
However, he also remarked that “stan culture”often magnifies these rap confrontations.
Throughout the back-and-forth between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, and even after it concluded, Akademiks has consistently shown support for Drake. In light of the recent lawsuit against Metro Boomin, he once again highlighted Kendrick’s ties to the acclaimed producer.
According to the plaintiff, Vanessa LeMaistre asserted she met Metro Boomin during a trip in 2016 while she was mourning the loss of her infant son. Metro Boomin is alleged to have invited her to his Los Angeles studio in September, where after consuming half a Xanax with alcohol, she blacked out due to emotional distress.
When she regained consciousness, she claims she found Metro Boomin engaged in a sexual act with her. After passing out again, she allegedly awoke to find herself in a hotel room in Beverly Hills and was told by the producer that it was time for her to leave.
Shortly after, LeMaistre discovered she was pregnant, alleging that the child was Metro Boomin’s, as she had not been intimate with anyone else. Unfortunately, she underwent an abortion in November 2016.
Metro Boomin’s attorney, Lawrence Hinkle II, refuted Vanessa’s allegations in a statement made to TMZ, describing them as “false allegations.”Hinkle announced that Boomin would pursue a malicious prosecution complaint to safeguard his interests in court.
