“Proud of you too homie” – UFC featherweight reacts to CM Punk admitting to having “zero regrets” about his run in the promotion
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, former UFC fighter and WWE superstar CM Punk discussed his time in the top-tier mixed martial arts organization with Ariel Helwani.
During his time with the UFC, Punk participated in two fights. He made his debut against Mickey Gall and then faced Mike Jackson in his second bout. When reflecting on his experience in the UFC, he stated:
“Zero regrets. I shouldn’t have fought in Chicago because it was like, the worst two weeks of my life. Easily the worst two weeks of my life. I couldn’t cut weight properly, but I still made weight, I’m proud of myself for that, but yeah, I’m an ambitious guy.”
Furthermore, he continued by saying:
“I get it, it’s easy to L-O-L, make fun of me and some people look at it and go ‘that’s embarassing’ but I f**king made the weight, I made the walk, I am 100% proud of myself, and I would do it again.”

CM Punk’s UFC Career: A Look at His Record
In September 2016, CM Punk made his UFC debut against Mickey Gall, marking his first ever mixed martial arts match. However, Gall proved to be a formidable opponent as he dominated Punk and ultimately secured a submission victory in the first round.
Despite being dominated by Mike Jackson throughout their second fight, Punk was able to make it to the judges’ scorecards. Ultimately, the judges ruled in favor of Jackson and declared him the winner via unanimous decision.
Despite initially being declared a win, the decision was later changed to a no-contest due to Jackson’s positive test for a banned substance.
Despite his fame and the attention he brought to UFC events, many were concerned about the discrepancy in pay between Punk and other fighters on the roster. He was receiving a significantly higher salary, which raised questions about fairness and equality among fighters. However, considering his celebrity status and the increased viewership he brought, it could be argued that his higher pay was justified.
