“Probably the hottest team”: Steve Kerr lauds Mavericks amid 7-game winning streak ahead of clash vs Warriors

Ahead of their pivotal Western Conference clash, veteran coach Steve Kerr had high praise for the surging Dallas Mavericks as they prepare to take on the formidable Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

The Mavericks (45-29) are currently on a winning streak of seven games, which is the best in the NBA. They have also emerged victorious in 11 out of their last 12 games, with their only defeat occurring when their star guard Luka Doncic was absent. In this period, their offensive rating (119.5) and defensive rating (107.1) both rank fourth in the league.

On Sunday, Dallas ended the Houston Rockets’ 11-game winning streak, defeating them 125-107 in Houston. Doncic played a vital role in the victory, scoring 47 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out seven assists, and making nine 3-pointers on an impressive 60.0% shooting.

Despite their impressive performance, the Mavericks have not only defeated the defending champion Denver Nuggets, but they have also achieved two crucial road wins against the Sacramento Kings during their current winning streak. As a result of their exceptional play, they have risen out of play-in contention and now hold a spot in the top five of the Western Conference with eight games left in the regular season.

During his pregame interview on Tuesday, Kerr commended Doncic for his all-around impact on Dallas and then went on to praise the entire Mavericks roster.

“He’s obviously playing at an incredibly high level. Right now, he’s obviously one of the main reasons Dallas is playing as well as [it is], but he’s got a lot of help, too,”Kerr said.

“They made, I thought, really good moves at the trade deadline, adding to their team. [Daniel] Gafford has really been great for them. P.J. Washington, too. And, of course, Kyrie [Irving] is doing really well, also. So, Dallas has done a great job.

“Jason [Kidd] has really put the team together, as well. They’re on a good roll, probably the hottest team in the league now, and we know that we’ve got a big challenge tonight.”

Warriors Continue to Shine before Facing Mavericks on Tuesday

Despite Dallas being the NBA’s hottest team, Golden State is also performing well as they head into Tuesday’s game. In their pursuit of a play-in spot, the Warriors (40-34) have recently won four straight games, making it the league’s second-longest winning streak.

The team has consistently held three of their four opponents to less than 100 points during this period, placing them third in defensive rating (103.9). As a result, their upcoming match against Dallas on Tuesday is expected to be closely fought.

Following their two victories against the Warriors this season, the Mavericks will aim to extend their undefeated streak in the season series. After competing in Golden State on Tuesday, the teams will have a rematch in Dallas on Friday.
