Windows 11 Settings app starts showing warnings when you’re running out of OneDrive storage

The latest Windows 11 update in the Release Preview channel continues to make the Windows Insider program even more confusing. In addition to having a higher build number than the beta, it provides features not available in less stable channels. Those testing Windows 11 updates in the Release Preview channel (which should receive new features after development and beta testing and act as the final testing ring before new content is released to the general public) can check the new alerts in the Settings app “.

Microsoft says that Windows 11 build 22621.898 (KB5010044) has new storage alerts for OneDrive subscribers. The Settings app will start displaying banners on the System page as soon as you get close to your OneDrive storage limit. These banners conveniently contain links that allow you to buy more space on the Microsoft cloud.

Here’s how Microsoft describes the latest additions to the Settings app:

  • New ! We have provided Microsoft OneDrive subscribers with storage alerts on the Systems page in the Settings app. Alerts appear when you are approaching your storage limit. You can also manage your storage and purchase additional storage as needed.
  • New ! We have provided the full amount of storage from all your OneDrive subscriptions. It also displays your total storage on the Accounts page in the Settings app.

In addition to adding storage warnings, Windows 11 build 22621.898 introduces the Windows Spotlight theme and a large list of various fixes and minor improvements. You can find out what’s new in Windows 11 build 22261.898 in our dedicated article.
