Initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2021, Kouji Miura’s Blue Box has published 18 volumes to date and is estimated to have sold approximately 4 million copies. Though this sales figure may seem modest compared to other titles in the magazine, the anime adaptation has catalyzed a noticeable boost in popularity. In fact, within just three days of its airing, the manga enjoyed nearly 50,000 copies sold, a number expected to grow with the upcoming second cour.

The announcement of Blue Box‘s anime adaptation came in November 2023, with its debut airing occurring almost a year later, in October 2024. The series featured an engaging soundtrack, including the opening theme “Same Blue”by Official Hige Dandism and the ending theme “Teenage Blue”by Eve.

At its core, Blue Box revolves around Taiki Inomata, a student at Eimei Junior and Senior High who is a member of the school’s badminton team, though he often grapples with self-doubt related to his abilities. To improve, Taiki dedicates his early mornings to training, coinciding with the schedule of Chinatsu Kano, whose life significantly diverges from his own. As he spends time with her, Taiki finds himself falling for her, setting the stage for a compelling romance.

You can stream Blue Box on Netflix.
