These innovative devices are equipped with state-of-the-art AMD Z2 APUs, featuring a combination of Zen cores and RDNA GPUs. Confirming the anticipated pricing structure, the Ally X is set at $999, while the standard Ally comes in at a more approachable $599.

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X stands out as the premium option, showcasing an impressive 7″display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. It boasts a robust 24 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, a substantial 1 TB of storage, and a powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. This cutting-edge chip utilizes the advanced Zen 5 architecture, offering up to 8 cores and 16 threads, with clock speeds reaching 5 GHz. Additionally, it features a TDP range between 15-35W and is complemented by 16 RDNA 3.5 compute units operating at frequencies as high as 2900 MHz, including an XDNA 2 NPU capable of delivering 50 TOPS of AI performance.
On the other hand, the ROG Xbox Ally provides a more budget-friendly alternative, retaining the same high-quality IPS display while stepping down to 16 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM and a 512 GB M.2 SSD, which is upgradeable. It incorporates the AMD Ryzen Z2 APU, which consists of 4 cores and 8 threads based on Zen 2 architecture with clock speeds up to 3.8 GHz. This processor has a lower TDP rating, ranging from 6-20W, and features an RDNA 2 iGPU with 8 compute units clocked at 1800 MHz, but lacks any NPU capabilities.

The performance disparity between the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X and the standard Ally is significant, which is reflective of their respective price tags, showing a $400 difference. While the entry-level model could potentially be more enticing at around $500, the Ally X maintains a strong argument for its premium pricing.
Moreover, with existing tariffs potentially influencing pricing, and considering recent adjustments by Microsoft and Sony regarding their standard console prices, those interested in these handhelds may find it wise to proceed with pre-orders sooner rather than later to lock in current rates.
