Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Episode 9 Ending – Monet’s Fatal Shootout

The events of episode 9 begin with Noma and Carter executing their strategy to lure Tariq and Monet to Staten Island, where a group of Russian gunmen lies in wait. Fortunately, Dru and Diana catch wind of their treacherous plan and attempt to intervene.

In response, Tariq and Monet devise a counter-strategy. Brayden, Effie, and Tariq plan to take down Carter while Dru and Diana confront Noma. However, things quickly spiral out of control. Tariq struggles to take decisive action against Carter, who informs Noma that Monet is still alive and coming for her.

As a result, after her wedding to Cane, Noma puts Cane in a difficult position, forcing him to choose between his mother, Monet, and herself. Unable to abandon his mother, Cane is restrained by Noma, who then orders her men to capture Dru and Diana and execute them.

Monet arrives just in time to protect her children, leading to an intense shootout with Noma’s gunmen. While the Tejada family manages to defeat the attackers, Monet suffers grave injuries in the process.

The climax of episode 9 delivers one of the most poignant moments in Power Book II: Ghost season 4, with Monet expressing her unwavering love for her children as she nears death. Cane, who has been estranged from his mother, begs her to hold on, setting the stage for significant developments in the season finale.

What Happens to Carter?

Throughout Power Book II: Ghost season 4, Detective Carter has maintained the upper hand against his foes. However, by episode 9, the balance shifts. After Dru and Diana successfully rescue Monet and Tariq from the Russian gunmen, Tariq confronts Carter in the church he frequently visits.

During their encounter, Carter tries to calm Tariq by revealing he possesses a videotape implicating Tariq in a past murder of a gang member. This revelation devastates Tariq, and Carter departs, notifying Noma of Tariq and Monet’s survival, but he doesn’t get far.

Brayden Steps Up in Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Episode 9

Previously in episode 8, Brayden displayed reckless behavior by torturing and killing Elle’s drug supplier, Steve, which frustrated Tariq. Throughout season 4, Brayden has often been portrayed as an unpredictable character making detrimental choices.

However, in episode 9, he redeems himself by coming to Tariq’s aid. As Carter exits the church, Brayden arrives in a car high on cocaine and crashes into Carter, incapacitating him. Brayden’s timely intervention puts Carter in a vulnerable position, affording Tariq the opportunity to plan their next move.
