Another improvement pertains to the handling of merged cells. Historically, merged cells were labeled as violations by the Accessibility Assistant, which was often misleading. With the recent updates, Microsoft has fine-tuned its parsing logic for both PowerPoint and Word, ensuring that these cells no longer trigger violation alerts. Streamlined Warnings for Small Tables
Additionally, Microsoft has addressed issues related to small tables that contain merged or split cells. Given that screen readers can navigate these structures effectively, the assistant will no longer produce warnings for them. These accessibility-related updates are currently available for users of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint who meet the following software requirements:
- Windows: Version 2411 (Build 19412.20000) or later
- Mac: Version 16.103 (Build 25101121) or later
Additionally, the changes concerning the handling of empty shapes are applicable to those using Word and Excel with:
- Windows: Version 2411 (Build 19329.20000) or later
- Mac: Version 16.103 (Build 25100813) or later
