Polo G Arrested: Details on Gun Possession Charges Facing the Rapper
Chicago-based rapper Polo G was arrested on Saturday, October 19, 2024, following claims of speeding in the San Fernando Valley. Upon searching his vehicle, authorities reported finding a loaded firearm. Consequently, Polo G has been charged with felony possession of a concealed weapon.
Following his arrest, Polo was transported to the Van Nuys jail. As per Uproxx, he was ultimately released on October 21, 2024. The report added that his release was processed under code 49B1, which permits individuals to be freed without bail when there are insufficient grounds for complaints against them.
Additionally, the media indicated that Polo G’s release status was noted as “RLSED PER 849(B)(1)PC A DETENTION ONLY.” According to the California legislative website, this signifies:
“The officer is satisfied that there are insufficient grounds for making a criminal complaint against the person arrested.”
A Look Back at Polo G’s Legal Issues
While the speeding incident on October 19, 2024, brought Polo G back into the legal spotlight, it is not his first encounter with law enforcement. In June 2021, the Associated Press reported that he was arrested in Miami for resisting arrest without violence; however, he was soon released.
In another event, Los Angeles Times covered the raid on Polo G’s residence in Los Angeles by police officers in August 2023, where multiple firearms were discovered, leading to charges for possession of a gun and firearms.
Similarly, in April 2024, he faced arrest in New York after hotel cleaning staff at The Dominick Hotel alerted authorities to the discovery of a gun. At that time, the NYPD confirmed to Billboard that Polo G was charged with criminal possession of a weapon as well as criminal possession of a firearm.
This latest arrest coincides with Polo G’s upcoming promotional venture, the Polo G The Hood Poet Tour. The tour is set to kick off on October 24, 2024, and will feature artists such as VONOFF1700 and Skilla Baby, running until November 29, 2024.
Throughout the tour, Polo will make appearances in various cities, including Denver, Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, New York, Montclair, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington, Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Austin, and Los Angeles.
Polo G is currently relishing the success of his latest album, Hood Poet, which debuted in August 2024. This album showcases collaborations with artists like Offset, Lil Durk, and The Kid Laroi and includes 18 tracks, such as Rain Falling, No Turning Back, Darkside, Bad Kids, Detox, Thorns, Father’s Day, and From the Heart.
As for Polo G’s recent legal troubles, it remains uncertain whether he will need to attend court for a hearing. Currently, neither he nor his legal team has issued any comments regarding the situation.
