What You Need To Know About Space-Time Smackdown
Exciting Features of the New Set
Although precise details concerning the total number of cards included in Space-Time Smackdown remain under wraps, we do know that it will be packaged in two distinct booster packs, one showcasing Dialga and the other presenting Palkia. Besides the Pokémon ex cards, this set will make its mark by incorporating Pokémon Tool cards—innovative Trainer cards designed to bolster the stats and attributes of particular Pokémon, enhancing gameplay through strategic use.
As with the previous expansions, such as Genetic Apex and Mythical Island, collectors can expect the addition of alternate art cards, featuring popular Pokémon like Lucario and their supporting trainer, Cynthia. The way trading will be facilitated in Pokémon TCG Pocket has also been highlighted, with the introduction of two new resources that players will need to trade cards, limited to trading among friends. Players will need trade tokens to initiate exchanges, which are likely to regenerate over time. Furthermore, trade hourglasses can be employed to expedite the waiting process. Notably, the trading feature will not apply to every card in the game; initially, it will be constrained to certain 1-4 diamond cards and 1-star cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island sets, with expansions anticipated in future updates.
Our Perspective on the Expansion
The Impact on the Pokémon TCG Pocket Metagame
One of the most engaging aspects of Pokémon TCG Pocket is its well-balanced gameplay, which has maintained a variety of competitive “meta” decks rather than favoring a few dominant archetypes. It will be fascinating to observe how this new card set will influence the existing Pokémon TCG Pocket metagame. With new Trainer cards and Pokémon Tool cards, deck construction strategies are bound to evolve. The addition of new Pokémon ex cards promises to introduce dynamic shifts, sparking excitement among players as they prepare to unveil and explore the capabilities of new packs when Space-Time Smackdown launches.
Stay tuned for all the latest updates and insights as we count down to the expansion’s release!
