Pokémon GO Introduces Black Kyurem and White Kyurem for the First Time in GO Tour: Unova

Exciting news for Pokémon GO fans: Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are set to debut during the upcoming Pokémon GO Tour: Unova. Scheduled for next month, this marks the fifth installment of the Pokémon GO Tour series, with a spotlight on Pokémon from the Unova region. Players can look forward to the introduction of Shiny Meloetta, alongside Shiny versions of Deerling, Maractus, Sigilyph, and Bouffalant. Niantic is organizing both live events in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, as well as a global event, ensuring all players can join in the fun.

Furthermore, Niantic has confirmed the exciting arrival of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem during the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova. Trainers present at the events in Los Angeles and New Taipei City will be the first to access these new forms through Pokémon Fusion, reminiscent of their original introduction in Pokémon Black & White. In addition to unveiling the new forms, participants will uncover new attacks, tackle exclusive Field Research tasks, and engage in other thrilling activities throughout the event. It’s important to note that players will not be able to transfer Black Kyurem or White Kyurem to Pokémon HOME, nor trade them.

To unlock Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, players must begin battling during the event. Fusing Kyurem with Zekrom enables the creation of Black Kyurem, while fusing it with Reshiram allows the formation of White Kyurem. To perform this fusion in Pokémon GO, players will need 1,000 Fusion Energy—specifically Volt Fusion Energy for Black Kyurem and Blaze Fusion Energy for White Kyurem—along with 30 Kyurem Candy and 30 Candies of the respective Legendary Pokémon utilized for the fusion. Players can gather Fusion Energy by battling Black Kyurem or White Kyurem in raids. Additionally, reverting the Pokémon to their original forms incurs no cost in Fusion Energy or Candies.

Notably, Kyurem’s signature move, Glaciate, will change upon fusion with either Zekrom or Reshiram. When fused into Black Kyurem, Glaciate becomes Freeze Shock; when transformed into White Kyurem, it will change to Ice Burn. Although details on the power of these new moves have yet to be released, they are expected to surpass their base forms significantly. If players decide to reverse the fusion, the attacks will revert back to Glaciate.

The fusion features in Pokémon GO have been awaited for some time, making the inclusion of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem a timely enhancement. Integrating these Fusion Pokémon as a cornerstone of Pokémon GO Tour: Unova is a brilliant move. However, it raises questions about how Niantic will manage the rotation of Black Kyurem and White Kyurem within raids to ensure an ongoing availability of Fusion Energy for players. This development has certainly amplified excitement among the Pokémon GO community, generating anticipation for the forthcoming Pokémon GO Tour: Unova.
