- DeNA has officially confirmed that a trading feature will be introduced in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
Recent leaks surrounding the Pokemon Trading Card Game hint at the incoming trading feature for the digital card game, much anticipated by players since launch. The trading function would enable users to swap surplus cards amongst themselves, facilitating the completion of their collections.
Trading has been a foundational element of the Pokemon franchise since the debut of the first-generation games in 1996, where players could exchange cards using a cable connection on their Game Boys. This mechanics has since permeated various franchise iterations, including Pokemon GO. However, the community surrounding Pokemon TCG Pocket has long awaited a similar feature as they currently lack a means to trade duplicate cards acquired from booster packs and special events. As speculations continue, fresh revelations have emerged regarding the trading mechanics.
Details from Recent Leaks Indicate Restricted Trading Options
According to insights shared by Centro Leaks on Twitter, the trading capability within Pokemon TCG Pocket may only extend to one- and two-diamond cards and their evolutions, as well as three-diamond silver-border cards. Notably, higher rarity cards—including full art ex cards—and one-crown cards are expected to remain non-tradable.
Furthermore, two-star rarity cards, which encompass full art ex cards, trainer cards, and immersive cards, will also be excluded from trading. One-crown cards, characterized by their intricate design and golden trim, will not be tradable either. The leak does not clarify whether promotional cards—including those purchased in the in-game store or obtained during limited-time events—will be tradable.
While leaks often warrant a degree of skepticism, they can sometimes provide valuable insight into the game’s trajectory. This particular leak isn’t the first indication of trading limitations, as previous reports in November suggested similar constraints. With DeNA having confirmed a forthcoming trading feature for January, players can look forward to more comprehensive details about this eagerly awaited update soon.
