Pokemon TCG Players Frustrated with ‘Useless’ Rewards in the Game

Event Rewards Disappointment in Pokémon TCG Pocket

  • Players express dissatisfaction with the latest event rewards, notably featuring Shinedust.
  • Shinedust has been criticized as being virtually worthless.
  • Many gamers are calling for more valuable rewards, such as Trade Tokens, in Wonder Pick Events.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket recently rolled out its latest Wonder Pick Event rewards, but fan reactions have been far from enthusiastic, particularly due to the presence of Shinedust. Although a range of new items has appeared for players to earn, many are finding the rewards lacking and are eager for more practical options that recognize their dedication within the game.

Since its debut in October 2024, the Wonder Pick Events have occurred approximately monthly, rewarding participants who complete specific tasks with Event Shop Tickets. These tickets are valid only during the event and can be exchanged for exclusive items, predominantly cosmetic in nature. The current event commenced on February 7, 2024, with a noteworthy update on February 14, introducing fresh items in the Limited Time/Events shop.

Fan feedback has been vocal on social media about the disappointing nature of these rewards. Centered around the popular starter Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl, Chimchar, the event brought additional themed items such as a Chimchar coin, card sleeve, and playmat. However, the most criticized addition is a reward of 50 Shinedust, a resource that recently lost its value following the introduction of card trading features in-game.

Players Desire More Trade Tokens in Pokemon TCG Pocket

gods forbid they give us something useful as a reward.swap out that useless shinedust for trade currency and now we’re talking by u/Fenris304 in PTCGP

When the trading feature launched on January 29, players raised significant concerns, primarily due to the steep cost in Trade Tickets for each trade. This currency is only obtainable by exchanging unnecessary duplicates from their collections. Previously, the only benefit from trading was acquiring Flairs, cosmetic enhancements to cards that require additional Shinedust. As a result, countless players have either ignored Flairs altogether or regretted utilizing their duplicates before the trading system was established.

Community discussions reflect a general discontent with Shinedust as a reward, although there’s a lack of consensus on preferable replacements. A substantial portion of players is advocating for additional Trade Tokens as the developers have recognized the community’s negative response following the trading feature’s introduction. Others are proposing incentives such as Hourglasses, aimed at reducing the waiting period for opening new card packs or enhancing the number of Wonder Picks available.
