Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Discover the Pokemon That Can Use Throat Chop

Throat Chop is a powerful Dark-type physical attack that debuted in Generation VII of Pokémon. This move stands out in battles not only for its impressive 80 Power and 100% Accuracy but also for its unique secondary effect—disabling the target’s ability to use sound-based moves for two turns. Although it may not be a popular choice in movesets for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Throat Chop is particularly effective against Pokémon that depend on sound-based moves, such as those with the Liquid Voice ability. Additionally, this move proves valuable in Tera Raids, especially during engagements like the challenging 7-star battle against Skeledirge.

If you have acquired the Scarlet & Violet expansion pack, known as the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, you can locate TM221 (Throat Chop) within the Terarium environment. Specifically, the TM resides in the Savanna Zone. To access Terarium, you must begin the Teal Mask storyline and collaborate with Kieran on your assignment. Note that the content of the Indigo Disk is intended for postgame, meaning you must complete the Teal Mask and “The Way Home”quests in Paldea first.

Upon entering the Savanna Biome, consult your map. You will find a wall separating Savanna Plaza (where you battle against Crispin) and Savanna Rest Area 1. On the side facing the mud wallows in Savanna Rest Area 1 is a cave entrance that leads to the Throat Chop TM. Make sure to reference the objective flag in the accompanying image for precise location information.

Eligible Pokémon for TM221

Crafting TM221 for Throat Chop in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

With the introduction of the Indigo Disk DLC, Pokémon trainers have the option to craft TM221 (Throat Chop). This allows trainers to teach Throat Chop to Pokémon that cannot learn the move through leveling or recall. To successfully craft TM221, you will need:

  • 5000 LP
  • x2 Scraggy Sweat
  • x3 Fur Floor

You can find Scraggy in the Canyon Biome within Terarium, and Scraggy Sweat can be obtained by either defeating or catching its evolved form, Scrafty. Zorua can be located in Tagtree Thicket. Remember that Zorua disguises itself as other Pokémon, similar to Ditto, which could make farming for Zorua Fur easier when employing Auto-Battle.

The following Pokémon are also capable of utilizing TM221:
