Overview of New Shiny Releases in Pokémon Home
- Players can now acquire Shiny Meltan and Shiny Keldeo in Pokémon Home.
- To access Shiny Meltan, completing the Kanto Pokédex via Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee is necessary.
- Shiny Keldeo requires capturing all Pokémon within Pokémon Sword, Shield, and their expansions.
As of February 12, Pokémon Home has introduced Shiny Meltan and Shiny Keldeo to its offerings. However, both Mythical Pokémon are not easily obtained; players must fulfill specific Pokédex completion tasks across various games to claim these coveted rewards.
Keldeo, known as the Colt Pokémon, debuted in Pokémon Black and White. Initially available through code distribution events, Keldeo is the final member of the Swords of Justice, alongside Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. It can change into its Resolute Form after learning the move “Secret Sword, ”impacting only its appearance. Meanwhile, Meltan, the Hex Nut Pokémon, first appeared in Pokémon GO and later in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. To evolve into Melmetal, Meltan must be caught in Pokémon GO and requires 400 Meltan Candy, making evolution in other titles impossible.
Rewards Unveiled for Shiny Meltan and Keldeo

- Pokémon Home is now rewarding players with the Shiny variants of Meltan and Keldeo.
- Shiny Meltan can only be claimed after completing the Kanto Pokédex.
- To catch Shiny Keldeo, players must finish the entries for Galar, Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra.
- There is no deadline, allowing trainers ample time to complete their Pokédexes.
Completing the Kanto Pokédex requires capturing 150 Pokémon, whereas the Galar Pokédex is significantly larger, requiring 400 Pokémon. When considering the additional entries available in the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra, which each contain 210 Pokémon, trainers must capture a total of 820 Pokémon to unlock Shiny Keldeo. It’s essential to note that Pokémon transferred from other regions to Pokémon Let’s Go or Pokémon Sword and Shield will not count towards this quest. This staggering total reinforces Keldeo’s reputation as a rare and elusive Pokémon.
Fortunately for trainers, there is no set expiration for obtaining these Pokémon Home rewards, thus allowing players to progress at their leisure. With continuous distribution of Pokémon rewards and the excitement building up for Pokémon Day festivities, the Pokémon franchise is set for an engaging year in 2025.
