This particular Spotlight Hour is set to happen on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. During this window, trainers will have the opportunity to encounter Voltorb and its Hisuian counterpart. With two Pokemon in focus, players should prepare accordingly to catch as many as possible and strive for those elusive Shiny variations.

Given that players will be pursuing two distinct Pokemon, stocking up on essential items such as Pokeballs, Berries, and Incense is crucial. These tools enhance the chances of both evolving and capturing Shiny variants. Additionally, it’s wise to ensure ample storage space for Pokemon, enabling uninterrupted catching throughout the event.

Understanding Voltorb

Voltorb, listed as #100 in the Pokedex, originates from the Kanto Generation 1. Players can trade or transfer this Electric-type Pokemon to Pokemon Home. Upon catching Voltorb, trainers are awarded 3 candies and 100 Stardust. Evolving it into Electrode requires 50 candies. With a maximum Combat Power (CP) of 1141, along with 109 Attack and 111 Defense stats, Voltorb can effectively contribute significant damage in battles.

Being an Electric-type Pokemon, Voltorb is particularly vulnerable to Ground-type moves, receiving 160% damage from them, while benefiting from reduced damage from Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). For optimal performance, equipping Voltorb with the moves Spark and Discharge is advisable, producing 5.81 DPS (Damage Per Second) and 40.62 TDO (Total Damage Output). It’s worth noting that rainy weather can enhance Voltorb’s attack capabilities, and it also boasts a blue Shiny variant.

Spotlight on Hisuian Voltorb

Next up is Hisuian Voltorb, which shares its Pokedex number with regular Voltorb as #100. Like its counterpart, Hisuian Voltorb can be traded and transferred to Pokemon Home, and it can also evolve into Hisuian Electrode with 50 candies. Catching this Pokemon also yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust.

Hisuian Voltorb matches Voltorb in CP (1141), Attack (109), and Defense (111) stats. However, it has distinct damage characteristics: it takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage) while receiving reduced damage from Grass, Steel, Water-type (63% damage) and other Electric-type Pokemon (39% damage). For optimal battling results, equip Hisuian Voltorb with Tackle and Thunderbolt, garnering 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Weather conditions such as Partly Cloudy and Rain can amplify Hisuian Voltorb’s damage output, and it also features a black Shiny variant, distinguishing it from the traditional orange appearance.
