PNY GeForce RTX 5060 OC Listed at $299 on Best Buy: Dual Fan Design Ahead of Launch

The highly anticipated GeForce RTX 5060 OC edition is set to launch later this month, although it has already surfaced on a major online retailer’s site.

NVIDIA and its partner manufacturers appear ready to introduce the second 60-class graphics card from the Blackwell series. While NVIDIA announced the RTX 5060 series GPUs in mid-April, only the RTX 5060 Ti has been made available for purchase thus far. The non-Ti version of the GeForce RTX 5060 is anticipated to release later this month, but a specific launch date remains undisclosed.

As the launch approaches, NVIDIA’s partners have begun to list their editions on various retail platforms. PNY is among the first, showcasing the PNY GeForce RTX 5060 8GB OC edition on Best Buy. This graphics card features a sleek all-black aesthetic combined with a dual-fan cooling system. The listed price is $299.99, consistent with NVIDIA’s previous announcement.

It’s important to note that the GPU is not yet available for purchase due to a launch embargo. Historically, prices for GPUs often fluctuate after their official debut; therefore, it is uncertain whether the listed price will remain stable once the RTX 5060 launches. Nonetheless, the GeForce RTX 5060 represents a significant upgrade from the RTX 4060 in the Ada lineup, featuring several notable enhancements.

One of the most substantial changes is the CUDA cores, with the RTX 5060 boasting 3, 840 cores compared to the 3, 072 found in its predecessor. This increase of approximately 25% in core count is expected to translate into better raster performance. The memory capacity remains at 8 GB, but the switch to GDDR7 memory is anticipated to accelerate memory bandwidth from 272 GB/s in the RTX 4060 to about 448 GB/s in the RTX 5060, yielding substantial performance improvements.

During its initial announcement, NVIDIA disclosed most of the specifications; however, some details, such as core clocks, remained unclear. According to the product specifications listed on Best Buy, the PNY RTX 5060 is an OC edition featuring a base clock of 2.28 GHz and a boost clock of 2.54 GHz. This places it in a comparable range to the RTX 5060 Ti, albeit the boost clock for the Founders Edition/Reference cards may be slightly lower.

In terms of power consumption, this GPU will consume slightly more than the RTX 4060, with a total board power (TBP) of 145W. This increase isn’t significant, but if it indeed performs about 25% faster overall, it should not pose any issues for most users. It’s also worth noting that while base models are expected to launch at the $299 price point, higher-end variants may reach prices of up to $400, reflecting the current market rates for other RTX 50 series GPUs.
