“Please No More Astroworld Incidents” — Online Reactions to Travis Scott Fans Causing Chaos and Littering Before Melbourne Concert

As excitement intensifies for Travis Scott’s concert in Melbourne, troubling events outside the venue have raised alarm and discontent among fans and users on social media.

On October 22, 2024, prior to Scott’s Circus Maximus show at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, a large throng assembled outside the venue. Following significant delays in the line, some concertgoers reportedly broke through barriers and left debris behind, as shown in various clips circulating online.

This incident has evoked immediate associations with the tragic Astroworld Festival that took place on November 5, 2021, where a disastrous rush led to the loss of ten lives of individuals aged between 9 and 27 during the annual musical event hosted by Scott at NRG Park in Houston, Texas, according to Billboard.

As a result, fans have turned to their X accounts to voice their concerns, urging the necessity for enhanced safety protocols and more responsible behavior at live music events.

“Not astroworld again please,”one user expressed.

An onslaught of criticism emerged on X towards Scott’s fanbase, with many branding their conduct as reckless and primal. Some commenters went further to declare the fanbase as the worst, articulating their exasperation regarding the recent occurrences.

“His fans are nothing but a bunch of ANIMALS… have they learned NOTHING about safety precautions from the Astroworld debacle???”one user lamented.

“the worst fanbase omg,”another remarked.

“You can’t fix stupid I guess,”one netizen commented.

“Well s**t do be attracting annoying flies,”one wrote on X.

Conversely, some users expressed deep concern regarding Travis Scott’s lack of response, labeling it as particularly disturbing. Others remarked on the troubling behavior of some teenagers seen in viral footage, underscoring the disorderly situation.

“and travis being perfectly fine with this is concerning,”a user noted on X.

“15-year-old boys out of control omg,”another netizen remarked.

“There’s nothing I want LESS than to go to a Travis Scott concert,”another stated.

Amidst the ongoing online discourse, there has been no comment from Travis Scott or his representatives regarding the incident involving the large crowd breaking through barriers or the subsequent online reactions.

Melbourne Mayhem as Travis Scott Fans Allegedly breach Barriers and Create Disorder Ahead of Concert

According to the Tribune, ahead of Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus concert on Tuesday, the crowd size reportedly surpassed expectations due to prolonged wait times. Eyewitness accounts detailed individuals climbing over barriers and neglecting staff directions, raising significant worries about safety.

Moreover, as reported by 7 News, the security arrangements for the Travis Scott concert appeared inadequate. There were multiple reports of disturbances outside Marvel Stadium, with several ticket holders seen breaching barriers to access the mosh pit.

A spokesperson for Marvel Stadium commented to The Advocate, indicating that while most of the 55,000 attendees behaved appropriately, a minority did not.

“The crowd was full of energy and enthusiasm for the show last night. Although the majority of the 55,000 attendees acted appropriately, unfortunately, some did not,”the spokesperson stated.

Richard Theodorakis, director of the Pride Security Group, underscored that the safety of both personnel and attendees was compromised during the event.

“Many of the issues stemmed from the second lines formed at the front, and if you observe the footage, those lines are quite dense and wide — meaning that, for police to intervene effectively, someone could easily breach that crowd, and you’d lose them,”Theodorakis explained.

The director of the Pride Security Group further asserted that insufficient security fosters conditions for individuals to create trouble for themselves and others.

In a separate comment to 7 News, Marvel Stadium assured that adequate security measures had been put in place for the event, noting that those exhibiting inappropriate behavior were barred from entry.

“Over 55,000 fans attended the concert’s second night. While most behaved appropriately, some were denied entry or removed due to misconduct,”Marvel Stadium stated.

As stated by 7 News, Marvel Stadium has announced plans to review security protocols post-concert. Despite the challenges faced, the Melbourne show proceeded as planned, marking the event as a success.
