Exciting Announcements from Xbox Developer_Direct

In a thrilling start to the Xbox Developer_Direct presentation, Microsoft revealed the long-anticipated mystery game, which turned out to be a significant double feature. Team Ninja took center stage with an announcement that left fans buzzing: Ninja Gaiden is set to make a grand return in 2025.

Surprise Collaboration with PlatinumGames

Adding to the excitement is the revelation that PlatinumGames, renowned for their acclaimed titles such as Bayonetta and Nier: Automata, will be at the helm of development. This collaboration brings a wealth of fast-paced action expertise to the beloved Ninja Gaiden series.

“Koei Tecmo’s President, Hisashi Koinuma, and PlatinumGames’ CEO, Atsushi Inaba, share a close relationship, which led us to explore a collaborative development effort,”explains Fumihiko Yasuda, head of Team Ninja. “PlatinumGames had the expertise we felt was ideal for working on NINJA GAIDEN, and with support from Microsoft’s Phil-san [Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming], the three companies were able to take the next step towards creating a brand-new NINJA GAIDEN.”

New Protagonist and Classic Character Reappearance

Ninja Gaiden 4 will introduce a fresh protagonist, Yakumo, while beloved hero Ryu Hayabusa will return as a prominent character, appearing in the narrative and playable in key moments. This blend of new and familiar faces promises an engaging experience for both new players and long-time fans alike.

Release Date and Accessibility

Mark your calendars: Ninja Gaiden 4 is set for release this fall on multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Moreover, it will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day, enhancing accessibility for a wider audience.

Shadow Drop of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

In an equally surprising twist, the collaboration between Microsoft and Team Ninja has also yielded a stealth release: Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. This remastered version of the critically acclaimed 2008 title retains the series’ signature challenging gameplay and intense gore, while integrating features borrowed from the Sigma 2 edition.

“We also wanted to give players something to enjoy as they wait for the release of NINJA GAIDEN 4. We chose NINJA GAIDEN 2 because it stands as one of the most solid action games in the series,”Yasuda mentioned regarding this unexpected launch. “We added ‘Black’ to the title to signal to fans that this is the definitive version, much like NINJA GAIDEN Black was for the first game.”

Availability of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

Gamers won’t have to wait long to experience the remaster, as Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is now available as of January 23, across PC, consoles, and Xbox Game Pass, providing an immediate opportunity to dive back into the action.
