GFA Games Announces Open Beta for Pioner This October
GFA Games has officially revealed that their highly anticipated MMOFPS, Pioner, will feature an Open Beta test later in October. This test allows players an early glimpse of the game ahead of its official release for PC, with console versions slated for a subsequent launch.
Previous Testing and Upcoming Improvements
Pioner has prior experience in the testing arena, having showcased a limited version of the game during June’s Steam Next Fest. Post-event, GFA Games identified several improvements aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience, particularly in the Player vs. Player (PvP) mode. Some of these crucial adjustments include:
- Revamping Capture Point Mechanics: Aiming to restore the nostalgic feel of the “Capture the Flag” game mode, GFA Games will reduce the time players spend capturing flags, making the gameplay more dynamic.
- Enhanced Navigation: To facilitate better communication among players, point names (A, B, and C) will be assigned for easier map navigation.
- Improved Enemy Visibility in Team Deathmatch: The team is implementing new visual cues to make both NPCs and players more distinguishable from the background, coupled with lighting adjustments to improve overall visibility.
- Player Movement Synchronization: Efforts are underway to resolve the desynchronization in player movements, which has been responsible for erratic movement patterns observed during gameplay.
- Refining Hit Registration Mechanics: The netcode is still being fine-tuned, addressing the current problems where hit registrations may not reflect accurately or suffer from rapid kill/death sequences.
- Enhancing Hit Collision Accuracy: Hitbox precision will be improved for certain environmental objects to ensure a fairer and more tactical element to the gameplay.
- PvP Weapon Balance Adjustments: Feedback has been collected regarding weapon balance in PvP scenarios, and further modifications will be implemented based on this input.
A Player’s Perspective
Reflecting on the recent demo from Steam Next Fest, it’s worth noting that the gameplay experience felt somewhat rough around the edges. As a long-time enthusiast of Pioner (evident from my previous interviews with the GFA Games team), I believe that the game could benefit from additional development time to enhance its overall polish. However, with the potential for substantial improvements over the past few months, I’m eager to see how this new build performs during the Open Beta.
