Phasmophobia, the acclaimed paranormal horror game by British developer Kinetic Games, has unveiled its ambitious content roadmap extending into 2025 and beyond. This update will introduce an array of new features, revamp existing maps, and include festive seasonal events.
Since its early access launch in September 2020, Phasmophobia has captivated audiences, achieving an impressive milestone of 20 million sales on PC. The game’s successful entry into console markets late last year, coinciding with Halloween 2024, further solidifies its popularity across multiple platforms.
With its availability across all targeted gaming systems, Kinetic Games is now dedicated to enriching and expanding the gameplay experience of Phasmophobia. The developer has recently revealed its plans for 2025, which emphasize significant improvements, starting with the introduction of a new equipment item – the Sound Recorder. This innovative tool will allow players to capture audio for their ghost-hunting expeditions, featuring visual indicators to guide players to sound sources. The recordings can be accessed through the game’s Journal, enhancing the immersion and strategic elements of gameplay.
Phasmophobia Content Roadmap for 2025 and Beyond

- Major updates: Chronicle, Player Character Overhaul
- Maps and reworks: Updates to Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse, and introduction of a new compact map
- Seasonal events: Easter, Halloween, and holiday celebrations in 2025
- Future releases in 2026: Horror 2.0 update, comprehensive house map reworks, additional seasonal events
Another significant upgrade on the schedule is a complete overhaul of the player characters, set for release in 2025. This update will feature enhanced character models and textures, alongside improved animations and minor adjustments. However, the anticipated character customization overhaul has been postponed to 2026, as the developers set their sights on refining the Horror 2.0 update, which will signify the conclusion of the game’s early access journey. Interestingly, this patch might also address the notorious “bendy backs”bug, a quirk that has gained a quirky fanbase among players who have grown fond of its eccentricity.

Exciting New Map on the Horizon for Phasmophobia
As part of its ambitious plans for 2025, Kinetic Games intends to refresh certain existing maps, including Bleasdale and Grafton Farmhouses. Moreover, players can anticipate the rollout of a new smaller map later in the year. While specific details remain under wraps, preliminary descriptions indicate that this forthcoming map will be set in a location uniquely different from existing game environments.
Both PC and console versions of Phasmophobia will receive updates simultaneously, showcasing Kinetic’s commitment to providing cohesive experiences across platforms. Following its release on consoles, the game has seen significant success, with over 2 million copies sold within just three months.
