Phasmophobia Guide: Completing the Frostbitten Challenge

In the thrilling world of Phasmophobia, players can immerse themselves in a multitude of contracts and challenges designed to push their ghost-hunting skills to the limit. Since its launch in late 2020, Kinetic Games has successfully captivated its audience, and the introduction of Challenge Mode has added an extra layer of excitement with unique and often perilous tasks each week.

Among these tasks is the Frostbitten Challenge, which offers players not just an opportunity for valuable experience but also the chance to earn achievements. Here’s what you need to know to triumph in this chilling endeavor.

What Is Challenge Mode in Phasmophobia?

Weekly Challenge List in Phasmophobia

Challenge Mode represents a unique weekly experience, where players are assigned a specific contract complete with a fixed loadout. Modifications to the loadout are not permitted, and the challenge must be completed at the designated site specified on the game board. Players can check the current week’s challenge through the Main Menu under the ‘Weekly Tasks’ section.

Successfully completing a maximum of ten challenges grants players access to three achievements: Challenger Approaching, Rise to the Challenge, and Taking All Challenges. Each challenge provides a base reward of $5, 000, alongside earnings from ghost identification and optional objectives, making it one of the most rewarding gameplay modes aside from high-difficulty contracts.

To fully engage with a Challenge Mode task, players must complete the specified contract a total of three times. These completions do not need to be consecutive, but they must be accomplished within the respective weekly period. Notably, Challenge Mode resets every Sunday, bringing fresh challenges each week with over two dozen variants, such as the Glow in the Dark Challenge.

To enter into the current Challenge Mode, players can select ‘Singleplayer’ or ‘Multiplayer’, depending on whether they prefer a solo or group experience. Adjust the ‘Difficulty’ settings until you reach the ‘Challenge Mode’ option. Here, players can review the current challenge and their progress before proceeding to the designated location on the map.

As players cannot alter starting equipment for the challenges, the loadout will be labeled as “a challenge-specific loadout is provided at no cost.” Once that’s set, players can embark on their ghost-hunting adventure.

How To Complete the Frostbitten Challenge in Phasmophobia

Camp Woodwind Dark in Phasmophobia

The Frostbitten Challenge, aptly named, presents players with a cold-themed experience that restricts access to essential equipment designed to combat the harsh weather conditions. The challenge description indicates: “It’s so cold that it’s slowing everyone down, including the ghost!”

This task occurs at Camp Woodwind, recognized as the smallest of the rural campsites within the game. Upon arrival, players will be immediately struck by the pre-existing snow conditions, making the entire area shiveringly cold. Notably, the fuse box located near the bathrooms will be permanently inoperative, rendering all lights useless for sanity preservation or temperature elevation.

Despite this challenge, players can still detect temperature-related evidence effectively, allowing for easier ghost identification. Unlike some other in-game challenges, players can still recover sanity during this one, since lighting options are off the table.

Frostbitten Challenge Loadout

Your supplied equipment for this investigation includes primarily tier 1 and tier 2 gear, with the exception of tier 3 sanity medication. This medication grants a temporary sprinting ability. However, players will noticeably lack Firelights, Incenses, and Igniters, making it impossible to light the bonfire for sanity recovery or evade ghost encounters using Incense.

Additionally, players will find no Cursed Objects to aid in ghost engagement. Nevertheless, the adjustments in ghost speed (75% of normal) may offer players a tactical edge, although the players’ own speed is similarly reduced to 75%.

To earn the full rewards, players must successfully identify the ghost after fulfilling the contract requirements on Camp Woodwind. Completing three optional objectives is not obligatory but offers additional rewards. Remember, accomplishing the task three times will secure the full $5, 000 reward.

General Tips for Completing the Frostbitten Challenge

Equipment in Camp Woodwind Bathroom

When facing the challenges of Phasmophobia, particularly those that limit light sources, swiftly locating the ghost becomes paramount. Utilizing tools such as the Parabolic Microphone can help detect paranormal sounds and pinpoint origins. The compact layout of Camp Woodwind minimizes potential hiding spots for the ghost, further facilitating this task. Additionally, employing Motion Sensors can be effective for tracking ghostly movements.

Prioritize placing a crucifix to deter ghosts that might hunt at elevated sanity levels.

If you’re tackling this challenge with friends, consider rotating roles to monitor equipment. For solo players, taking intermittent breaks in the truck can help maintain sanity while allowing time for the ghost to interact with placed equipment. Strategically placing cameras around the campsite can also enhance your chances of tracking critical evidence such as DOTs, Ghost Orbs, or Ghost Writing.
