As the game transitioned to console, coinciding with the Halloween vibe of late October 2024, this update has taken the horror experience a notch higher by integrating VOSK Voice Recognition software. Players can now use the Spirit Box to verbally ask questions, bringing a new level of engagement. Additionally, calling out to specific spirits can temporarily amplify ghostly activities, adding to the tension of each session.

To maximize the use of voice recognition, players on different consoles will have varied setups. For PlayStation 5 users, the built-in microphone within the DualSense controller can facilitate communication, avoiding the necessity for a standalone headset. Moreover, the PlayStation VR2 headset’s mic is also compatible with this feature. Conversely, Xbox players are required to use a compatible headset connected directly to the console. To activate the voice recognition function, navigate to the game options from the main menu and select ‘Voice Recognition Mode.’ It’s worth noting that Xbox players may experience a default switch to text mode if their microphone disconnects during gameplay.

Engage with Curse Possessions, such as the Ouija Board and the Monkey Paw, to interact more deeply with the supernatural.
Invoke the spirit’s name or recognized phrases close to the ghost in order to temporarily stimulate increased ghost activity.

Setting Up Voice Recognition

Instructions for Xbox:

Attach a compatible headset to your Xbox console via the controller jack or utilize a wireless connection.
Access the Main Menu, go to game options, and set ‘Voice Recognition Mode’ to ‘Voice.’
Note: If the microphone disconnects, the game will automatically switch to Text mode until the microphone is reconnected.

Instructions for PlayStation:
