Upcoming Call of Duty Movie Details

According to a recent report by Deadline, the highly anticipated Call of Duty movie has officially appointed its director and writer. Peter Berg will take the directing reins, co-writing the script alongside Taylor Sheridan.

Peter Berg is widely recognized for his work on various action thrillers, including The Kingdom (2007), Lone Survivor (2013), and Mile 22 (2018).Taylor Sheridan, known for creating the acclaimed Yellowstone franchise, as well as projects like Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King, also has a writing portfolio that includes both Sicario films. Their previous collaboration on the Oscar-nominated film Hell or High Water (2016) has set high expectations for this new project.

This development likely indicates that the adaptation of Call of Duty is being expedited. Last month, Paramount secured the rights to adapt the iconic video game franchise. Notably, Sheridan’s current contract with Paramount will conclude in 2028, after which he will begin a new chapter with NBCUniversal under a multi-year deal. As of now, there are no announcements regarding the movie’s cast, and it may take some time before details emerge.

In the meantime, fans of the franchise can look forward to the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, debuting on November 14. This installment promises to engage players with a gripping story campaign that continues from Black Ops 2. Set in the year 2035, the narrative centers around JSOC Commander David ‘Section’ Mason, portrayed by Milo Ventimiglia, and his elite team as they battle against the resurgence of the notorious Nicaraguan terrorist Raúl Menéndez, who threatens global destruction within three days. Joining Mason are operatives Mike Harper (Michael Rooker), Eric Samuels (John Eric Bentley), and Leilani ’50/50′ Tupuola (Frankie Adams), under the watchful eye of Colonel Troy Marshall (Y’lan Noel). The investigation is further complicated by ‘The Guild’, a former criminal organization transformed into a high-tech corporation, led by CEO Emma Kagan (Kiernan Shipka).
