
Samsung GDDR6 Memory Affects RX 9070 XT Performance
In recent assessments, a hardware reviewer from China has unveiled notable performance issues linked to Samsung GDDR6 memory in select Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards. This discovery follows extensive comparative analyses across various GPU models.
The reviewer, operating under the alias 51972, documented these discrepancies in a detailed video published on Bilibili. During his investigation, he pinpointed the specific factors contributing to performance degradation in some RTX 9070 XT versions.

Despite these findings, the performance differences may not be easily noticeable. Variations in clock speeds and cooling solutions among different editions can obscure the impact of the memory type.

Following his analysis, the reviewer consulted with AMD’s FAE team in China, who validated that the performance limitations stem from the use of Samsung’s GDDR6 modules.

Reports indicate that the Samsung GDDR6 memory exhibits “loose”timing parameters, leading to increased memory latency — a factor previously highlighted by the reviewer. This latency is markedly higher in comparison to other GDDR6 modules.


Confirmations from AMD have solidified the assertion that Samsung’s memory is the primary cause of the latency issues impacting the RX 9070 XT’s performance.
