Payday 2 Launches Subscription Service for DLC Access
Since its debut in 2013, Payday 2 has captivated gamers with its thrilling cooperative heist gameplay and a plethora of downloadable content (DLC).Recently, publisher Starbreeze announced a game-changing subscription service, allowing players to access all existing DLC without the need to purchase each one individually.
Introducing the ‘Payday 2 Subscription’
The new ‘Payday 2 Subscription’ plan is available on Steam, offering two pricing options: $4.99 monthly or $19.99 for six months. This subscription grants players access to nearly 70 DLC packs, featuring an array of content including new heists, weapons, and cosmetic upgrades.
Flexibility for Players
Starbreeze positions the subscription as a flexible alternative for players who may be hesitant to invest in the entire DLC catalog. The game developer emphasized that traditional DLC purchases will still be an option, ensuring players have the freedom to choose their preferred method of acquiring content.
“With more than a decade of content behind PAYDAY 2, we want to give players greater flexibility in how they experience the game, ” said Gustav Nisser, Head of Commercial at Starbreeze.“The subscription service makes it simple and cost-effective to enjoy everything PAYDAY 2 has to offer – whether you’re new to the game or returning to explore DLCs you haven’t yet played. At the same time, all existing DLCs remain available for purchase as before. This is about giving players more choice.”
What Happens When You Cancel?
Subscribing to the service is straightforward; all you need is a copy of the base game. However, it’s important to note that if you decide to cancel your subscription, access to specific DLC content such as weapons, characters, heists, and masks will be temporarily revoked. Fortunately, your game progression—like levels, in-game currency, and inventory—will remain intact.
