- Update 0.2.0 is set to enhance Towers as the primary endgame feature.
- A segment of the Path of Exile 2 community has expressed concerns regarding this direction.
- The rollout is scheduled for late March 2025.
Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has recently unveiled several gameplay adjustments anticipated in the upcoming Path of Exile 2 update 0.2.0. The focus is predominantly on revamping the Lost Towers, reaffirming the developer’s commitment to Towers as a key endgame element despite some community pushback.
Criticism surrounding Towers is prevalent among players, with many viewing them as a significant factor contributing to perceived flaws in the game’s endgame experience. Numerous fans have voiced their dissatisfaction, citing issues with the design of Tower maps that restrict visibility and impair movement, alongside grievances regarding the arduous and time-intensive nature of Tower progression.
A sneak peek video from GGG offers insights into the forthcoming changes for the 0.2.0 update. The video indicates that the developer is doubling down on Towers, integrating all content—including bosses—within Tower maps. This alteration aims to align the challenges presented by Tower maps with those of traditional maps, creating a more uniform gameplay loop as players activate Towers.
Reaffirming the Focus on Towers and Tablets in Path of Exile 2
Alongside this emphasis on Towers, update 0.2.0 will introduce a mechanic that randomizes Tower generation within the Path of Exile 2 Atlas. This innovation is designed to inject variety into the endgame mapping experience. Furthermore, the update will incorporate a feature allowing Towers to utilize content from tablets applied to other Towers within the same vicinity, promoting strategic resource management to optimize outcomes.

Community Divided on Path of Exile 2’s Endgame Mechanics
The recently showcased changes have prompted varied reactions within the gaming community. A notable segment of players is advocating for a different endgame experience that diverges from the current Tower-centric approach. As it stands, the forthcoming 0.2.0 update offers limited solutions to the dissatisfaction expressed by players regarding the inevitable reliance on maps with unappealing layouts, primarily to engage with Towers.
Suggestions from fans include proposals to allow Towers to unlock adjacent map nodes or accept multiple tablets—a compromise that would maintain the relevance of Towers in the endgame while alleviating some of the redundancy in gameplay. Additionally, increasing the connectivity distance of map nodes has also been discussed within the community as a potential enhancement.
Scheduled for release in late March 2025, the 0.2.0 update will continue to evolve Path of Exile 2, which is anticipated to remain in early access at least until May 2025.
