Path of Exile 2 Early Access Delayed Due to Technical Issues
The much-anticipated Early Access for Path of Exile 2 was set to commence today, but unforeseen technical difficulties have momentarily halted player access. Originally planned for a launch at 2 PM EST / 11 AM PST, the developers at Grinding Gear Games opted for last-minute database enhancements to accommodate a significantly higher player influx than anticipated.
Unexpected Database Challenges Arise
As the developers executed the database upgrades, they encountered additional complications. Initially, a crash was detected that posed a risk to a majority of users. Fortunately, this was resolved quickly, and the team expressed confidence in the game’s readiness for deployment, asserting that the Early Access was “relatively imminent.”However, subsequent issues related to configuration demanded a complete restart of the realm, causing further delays.
Real-Time Updates and Community Engagement
For those following the developments, Grinding Gear Games is providing ongoing updates through their social media channels. They are sharing a detailed account of the challenges faced and the solutions being implemented in real-time.
New Complications Surface
Despite resolving the initial issues, the developers encountered another problem, which involved multiple character IDs being duplicated within the game. Addressing this, they stated: “We’ve run into the same symptom again with a different problem. We are working on fixing it again but regrettably every time this happens we have to restart and wipe the databases to prevent them from getting into bad or corrupted states. We’ll have a fix out as soon as we can!”
High Demand and Popularity Metrics
While the launch is facing significant hurdles, the interest in Path of Exile 2 has already eclipsed that of World of Warcraft and New World on Twitch. Currently, it boasts a greater number of live viewers than Diablo IV, demonstrating a robust community eager for its release.
Website Downtime and Continuing Commitment
Along with the live servers, the official Path of Exile 2 website is currently non-operational, displaying a message that it is “temporarily unavailable.”Despite these challenges, the development team remains committed to keeping the player community informed and engaged.
We will provide further updates as the situation evolves and the developers work diligently to resolve these issues.
