Path of Exile 2 introduces a multitude of strategies for players to enhance their characters’ power, with Combat Frenzy emerging as a particularly effective method. One of the standout features of this eagerly awaited sequel is the unprecedented versatility available on the journey to mastery. Character classes now exhibit increased flexibility, allowing players to explore various skills and create potent combinations by temporarily dipping into other class abilities. However, it’s worth noting that access to classes has been somewhat restricted during the early access phase, with only six of the anticipated twelve classes available for gameplay.
Significantly improving upon its predecessor, Skill Gems in Path of Exile 2 have been revamped for greater usability. Unlike the previous setup where gems had to be directly equipped into weapons or armor, characters now have a dedicated page that can accommodate up to nine Skill Gems. Each gem can also contain two support gems, with the capacity extendable to five when players utilize specific crafting materials. This innovation simplifies character development and empowers players with unprecedented skill combinations.

Understanding Spirit Gems
Combat Frenzy represents one of the powerful Spirit Gems available in Path of Exile 2. To obtain it, players need to acquire an uncut Spirit Gem and select the relevant skill. As a tier eight skill, it necessitates an uncut gem that is at least level eight. Once the gem is in hand, simply search for “Combat Frenzy”in the skill tab and proceed to craft it into that specific skill.
While finding an uncut Spirit Gem can sometimes be frustrating due to the randomness involved—beyond a few guaranteed drops—players can enhance their chances by defeating rare monsters swiftly. These encounters significantly increase the likelihood of uncut gem drops, making persistence key. For newcomers or those restarting, there are three guaranteed sources of Spirit Gems:
- Defeating the King Of The Mists boss in Act One
- Looting the Golden Tomb in Act Two
- Conquering Ignaduk The Bog Witch in Act Three
Effects of Combat Frenzy
Empowerment Through Frenzy Charges
The Combat Frenzy skill grants players a Frenzy Charge approximately every 6.1 seconds upon freezing, electrocuting, or pinning an enemy. These afflictions can be easily inflicted by any class, enhancing accessibility across play styles. For instance, many formidable endgame builds for Sorceress take advantage of the Stormweaver ascendancy, which enhances elemental damage and increases the likelihood of freezing or electrocuting foes, thereby accumulating Frenzy Charges rapidly.
Frenzy Charges serve as stackable buffs that amplify specific skills. While not all abilities benefit from these charges, those that do typically experience significant performance enhancements. For example, Witches can utilize Frenzy Charges to strengthen their Summon Zombie skill, boosting the summoned creature’s health, duration, and damage output. This dynamic transforms seemingly underwhelming abilities into formidable elements of a player’s arsenal.
Players can identify whether a skill can be empowered and the nature of that empowerment directly in the skill description.
However, for the sake of balance, there are restrictions with Frenzy Charges. They can stack up to three times and have a lifespan of 20 seconds. These limitations are designed to encourage dynamic gameplay rather than restrict potential, and it’s reasonable to anticipate that more items allowing for greater stacking might be introduced in the future, although currently, only the Unique boots Darkray Vectors offer such an advantage.
All in all, Combat Frenzy is a significant asset for enhancing specific builds within Path of Exile 2. While other skills can generate charges, the convenience of a passive ability like Combat Frenzy is undeniably beneficial. This versatility extends to any class, including those not currently available in early access. Players are encouraged to harness Combat Frenzy and its Frenzy Charges to elevate their character customization and effectiveness in the game.
