Parallels introduces Apple Intelligence capabilities for Windows users
At the beginning of this month, we shared insights about a lightweight application that integrates certain Apple Intelligence functionalities into Windows 10 and 11. However, for users with compatible Macs utilizing Windows virtual machines, Parallels has introduced a more authentic experience for Windows applications.
With the release of Parallels Desktop for Mac version 20.1 running on macOS Sequoia 15.1, users can now access Apple Writing Tools within their Windows virtual environments. This enhancement enables you to “enhance your writing in Windows applications”such as Microsoft Word, Notepad, and others. To clarify, Apple Writing Tools are designed to summarize lengthy texts, edit and proofread writing, adjust tone, and condense content, among other features.
If your Mac is currently operating on macOS 15.1 and has access to Apple Intelligence, updating Parallels Desktop and Parallels Tools will enable the use of Apple Writing Tools in Windows 10 and 11 virtual machines. Once the updates are complete, simply highlight any text in a Windows application and press Shift + Cmd + W or navigate through Edit > Writing Tools. This functionality allows you to adapt the tone, summarize, create lists, proofread, or rewrite your selected text using Apple’s AI capabilities.
Apple Writing Tools are part of the extensive Apple Intelligence suite, which became available to users with macOS Sequoia as of version 15.1. These tools can efficiently summarize extensive articles or reformat them into actionable lists. While composing your documents, the Writing Tools assist in editing and modifying the tone to achieve a more professional or succinct style.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is being progressively rolled out to users operating on macOS Sequoia 15.1, iPadOS 18.1, and iOS 18.1. However, it’s important to note that not every device compatible with iOS 18 can access Apple Intelligence. Only those powered by M1 chips or newer, as well as devices featuring the Apple 17 Pro or beyond, are eligible for this innovative AI technology. Regrettably, other models, including standard iPhone 15 versions, do not have access.
