Palworld: Feybreak Guide – Crafting and Using the Metal Detector

The introduction of the Metal Detector in the Feybreak update marks a transformative advancement in Palworld gameplay. This highly anticipated tool significantly simplifies the task of locating valuable materials, eliminating the often tedious search process that many players face. With the Metal Detector, players can focus on precisely identifying the resources they need, rather than relying on chance or engaging in extensive exploration.

The Metal Detector streamlines the resource-gathering experience in Palworld, allowing players to acquire essential materials needed for crafting weapons, tools, and structures. While some Pals possess skills that aid in resource discovery, the Metal Detector offers a level of reliability and efficiency that can greatly enhance the overall gaming experience. By eliminating the uncertainty involved in resource acquisition, this tool greatly enhances player satisfaction and progression.

To acquire the Metal Detector in Palworld, players must reach a specific technology level and gather necessary materials. The first step is achieving Technology Level 56 by progressing through the main storyline and completing side quests to accumulate experience points. Once players reach this level, they can navigate to the Technology section within the menu to unlock the Metal Detector recipe using Technology Points earned through gameplay.

However, simply unlocking the recipe does not provide you with the Metal Detector. Crafting it is the next step. Players will need access to a Production Assembly Line II. The crafting process will require 30 Plasteel, 100 Paldium Fragments, 30 Circuit Boards, and 20 Nightstar Sand. Plasteel, Paldium Fragments, and Circuit Boards can typically be gathered by breaking down equipment, completing quests, or exploring various locations within Palworld. Nightstar Sand is particularly abundant on Feybreak Island and can often be found near beaches or sandy areas glowing at night.

Notably, the Metal Detector is one of the few items introduced in the Feybreak update that does not necessitate farming hexolite quartz for crafting.

The crafting process can be time-consuming, even for players with high crafting skills. Therefore, it’s advisable to utilize an assembly line and enlist several Pals with strong crafting abilities to expedite the process. Some of the best Pals for this task include Lunaris, Wixen, Verdash, Lyleen, and Anubis. Having one of these Pals dedicated to crafting will ensure the Metal Detector is completed swiftly.

Utilizing the Metal Detector is straightforward. To begin, equip it through your inventory, which will designate it as your primary tool. While exploring areas such as the caves of Feybreak Island or the Scorched Hill Zone, the Metal Detector will automatically scan the surroundings for ores.

As players approach a Chromite deposit, an audible signal will activate. The frequency and volume of the beeping will increase as players near the deposit. Concurrently, the Metal Detector will transition from blue to red, indicating proximity to the ore. This effective combination of auditory and visual cues enables players to locate Chromite easily, even amidst conflicts with other Pals.

When players are near enough, they will notice a smoky effect surrounding the Chromite, signaling that it is possible to use a pickaxe to collect it. It’s essential to remember that the Metal Detector functions within a limited range. If players stray too far from a deposit, the signal will fade, requiring them to search again. Fortunately, Feybreak Island is rich in Chromite, allowing players to gather substantial quantities for crafting and storage.

Mastering the Metal Detector is simple and generally requires only a brief experience to understand its functionality in locating Chromite, a crucial resource in Palworld. By paying close attention to the sound and color indicators, players will enhance their ability to find and gather Chromite efficiently. Over time, this process becomes intuitive, enabling players to navigate Feybreak Island with confidence in their resource-gathering capabilities.
