Overwatch 2 offers a diverse array of game modes, including Quick Play, Competitive, and Arcade, each providing players with opportunities to amass different in-game currencies. By participating in these modes, gamers can earn rewards that enhance their gameplay experience, such as unlocking additional Battle Pass tiers or acquiring unique hero cosmetics and collectibles.
Among these currencies, Competitive Points and Legacy Competitive Points stand out. These points are instrumental in purchasing stunning weapon skins which not only showcase a player’s dedication but also entice more casual gamers to engage with Competitive Play, drawn in by the allure of unique aesthetics.
How to Obtain Competitive Points & Legacy Points in Overwatch 2

The path to earning Competitive Points in Overwatch 2 is straightforward: players must engage in the Competitive Play mode. Points are awarded based on match outcomes, incentivizing ongoing participation to climb the ranks or save up for coveted weapon skins.
- Winning a Competitive match earns players +10 Competitive Points.
- In the event of a draw, players receive +5 Competitive Points.
- Unfortunately, no points are awarded for losses in Competitive games.
In addition to the basic point rewards, players can progress through the Competitive Progression System. Accumulating 30 Progress Points enables players to earn an extra 100 Competitive Points, with the potential to receive up to 3, 000 points per season through continual gameplay and victories.
Furthermore, Season 12 introduced a new feature known as Competitive Drives. This system awards players bonuses of Competitive Points during the final week of a Competitive season, with increments of +1, 000, +2, 000, and +3, 000 available at the first, third, and fifth Competitive Drive Checkpoints.
Throughout a Competitive Year in Overwatch, players can only earn Competitive Points. However, with the onset of each new Competitive Year, any unspent Competitive Points are converted into Legacy Competitive Points. Initially, players are limited to acquiring the newly introduced weapon variants, such as Jade or Galactic. This strategy helps prevent the hoarding of points and ensures a gradual acquisition of new skins.
Legacy Competitive Points, on the other hand, can be utilized to purchase exclusive weapon skins available during the early stages of a new competitive year, including the Gold and Jade weapons highlighted in Season 15. As the Competitive Year progresses, restrictions may ease, allowing players to use their active Competitive Points for all weapon skin variants.
