“Overwatch 2 Fans Disheartened as Venture Fails to Acquire Juno’s Collaboration Skin with MHA”
The highly anticipated Overwatch 2 Season 13 is on the horizon, bringing with it an exciting new collaboration with My Hero Academia. Blizzard has unveiled a new lineup of skins for five distinct heroes, each inspired by iconic characters from the beloved anime and manga series. These skins feature Izuku Midoriya as Tracer, Ochaco Uraraka as Juno, All Might as Reinhardt, Tomura Shigaraki as Reaper, and Himoko Toga as Kiriko. However, many fans noted the absence of skins for various heroes, including Venture.
Interestingly, Juno is a fresh addition to the roster, while Venture was launched back in April 2024. Despite this, Venture hasn’t seen a substantial number of new skins since its release. Social media user @Kevin12Jump expressed concerns about this situation following the announcement of the MHA skins.
While Venture does possess some skins, it still lacks a legendary skin. Overwatch 2’s Game Director Aaron Keller hinted at the development of a skin for Venture in the game’s upcoming 14th season back in August 2024, but no official details or announcements have been shared yet. Consequently, some players are expressing their disappointment regarding the scarcity of skins.
User @opinions2234 criticized that the Izuku Midoriya skin for Tracer should have been allocated to Venture instead.
“Venture should’ve been the Deku skin”
Additionally, @AslinIsDead pointed out that Venture hasn’t received any noteworthy skins since its release, believing the character deserves the same level of attention as Kiriko.
Nevertheless, there is hope that Blizzard will introduce at least one new Venture skin in the next season. @CrazyZackxx12 speculated that when a new skin is finally released, it should stand out as one of the best in the game.
“Their skin better be one of the best in the game”
Furthermore, @the_HUGOAT noted that there are several My Hero Academia characters that could have worked well for Venture, such as Eijiro Kirishima or Mei Hatsume, who assists the protagonist with technology upgrades.
“They could’ve made a Kirishima-Venture skin or even the inventor chick that is friends with Deku that made him the gloves”
It’s clear that Blizzard had plenty of MHA characters to draw from for a Venture skin, yet none were chosen. Unsurprisingly, @vintantt felt that Venture has been completely overlooked post-launch.
“They literally threw them back into the closet after releasing”
Lastly, @msmumblebee expressed that Juno should have been launched before Venture in Overwatch 2 given the overwhelming attention the character received so soon after release. They hope developers will treat all heroes with equal appreciation.
Juno or Venture: Who Has Greater Popularity in Overwatch 2?
Juno made her debut in Season 12, while Venture has been a part of the game for several months now. It’s essential to recognize that these heroes belong to different classes, with Venture categorized as a Damage type and Juno as a Support hero.
Despite the difference in their release timings, both characters currently have relatively low pick rates. More established heroes such as Genji, Hanzo, and Soldier: 76 are favored among Damage players, while Kiriko, Moira, and Mercy are much more popular choices among Support players. At present, it appears that Juno surpasses Venture in terms of popularity. This could be due to recency bias, or simply a natural preference among players.
It might take some time for the Overwatch 2 community to start expanding their selections to include the newer characters instead of defaulting to the older ones.
