“Overreacting to Texts”— Love is Blind Fans Share Reactions to Taylor’s Frustration with Garrett

This week, Netflix’s highly acclaimed social experiment, Love is Blind, premiered two new episodes in its seventh season on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. These episodes showcased the couples living together, allowing them to explore their compatibility outside of the pods. With their phones now back in hand, one individual’s social media interactions led to some unexpected friction.

In the tenth episode, Garrett revealed to Taylor that he had received an Instagram message from an ex, although he insisted he had only liked the message. However, Taylor later found out that he had actually replied to the message, prompting her to rethink their relationship. She accused him of dishonesty and expressed that she didn’t feel fully invested in him, stating she didn’t feel “200%” about their connection.

The conversation quickly became a hot topic among fans online, with many criticizing Taylor’s emotional response in the tenth episode. One fan expressed their thoughts on X:

“Taylor, you are doing WAY too much… it’s really not that serious. Chile..”

“Garrett should keep his distance from Taylor. She’s making a big deal over a response to a DM from his ex while ignoring the fact that he set boundaries with her. She really needs to heal from her past relationship that involved cheating,”commented another viewer.

“Hannah: ‘I’m dating a man-child.’ Monica: ‘He literally cheated on me.’ Ashley: ‘He has three kids he never informed me about.’ And then there’s Taylor, ‘He received a message from his ex that he liked.’ Girl…. This isn’t a big deal unless there was actual flirting involved… he had a life before you,”another tweet read.

Many Love is Blind season 7 viewers felt that Taylor was “overreacting”:

“Garrett didn’t really say anything wrong, honestly, Taylor seems to be overreacting,”one user commented.

“Can someone explain why Taylor is so upset???”asked another fan.

“Taylor is angry that Garrett replied to a text from his ex-girlfriend from six years ago and told her he’s engaged and happy,”a tweet read.

On the other hand, some viewers stood by Taylor:

“Not Garrett changing his story and admitting he responded to his ex. Taylor absolutely has a right to call him out for lying,”another user shared.

“Garrett, did you respond or not?! You initially told Taylor you only reacted to the message and then in front of your friends, you just claimed you replied. Smh G…,”wrote a concerned fan.

Taylor and Garrett’s Tense Exchange over His Response to a Message in Love is Blind Season 7, Episode 10

In the tenth episode of Love is Blind season 7, Garrett disclosed to Taylor that he had received a message on Instagram from an ex, clarifying that he had simply liked it. As they were getting ready to enter a party, Taylor pointed out that he should have made it clear to his ex-girlfriend that he was engaged instead of just liking the message.

During the party, Garrett reiterated the story to Tyler and Ashley, with Taylor listening in. He claimed that he informed his ex that he was engaged and felt that it wouldn’t be right to continue their conversation.

Upset, Taylor insisted on checking her fiancé’s phone. Garrett explained that his phone was elsewhere but offered to get it. Taylor, visibly distressed, left the table in tears as Ashley followed her. She confided in Ashley her frustrations about Garrett lying to her, especially since he was supposed to meet her family soon.

Later on, Garrett asked Taylor if she was truly upset, to which she replied that she was “livid” because he had omitted important “facts.” He tried to justify by calling them merely details, stating he hadn’t thought it necessary to recount their conversation in full. Garrett apologized, and Taylor expressed that they could have resolved this issue much earlier when discussing the text message.

“I made a huge mistake,”Garrett admitted.

Taylor conveyed her lack of confidence, feeling that she wasn’t “200%” sure about him meeting her family the following day. She mentioned sensing “too many red flags” and that everything was unfolding too quickly. When Garrett inquired if she was referring to the wedding, Taylor found it “weird” and hard to comprehend.

Even though the episode ended on a tense note, the following episode showed the couple addressing their problems and going on a date to help mend their relationship.

Fans had a similar reaction on social media, believing Taylor’s response was excessive.

All episodes from 1 to 11 of Love is Blind season 7 can now be streamed on Netflix.
