Overhauled Microsoft Rewards on Xbox Introduces New Quests for PC Game Pass Users

Exciting Updates to Microsoft’s Xbox Rewards Program

As the new year unfolds, Microsoft is rolling out significant enhancements to its Rewards program specifically designed for Xbox players. Starting January 7, not only will PC Game Pass subscribers join in, but the system itself is being revamped to offer new quests and enticing weekly rewards. A key change to note is that participation in Xbox Rewards will now be limited to individuals aged 18 and older.

Inclusion of PC Game Pass Members

Previously, the rewards for Xbox gameplay were exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate members. The upcoming changes will grant PC Game Pass users the opportunity to earn points through Game Pass Quests. This expansion marks a noteworthy shift, allowing a broader audience of gamers to benefit from Microsoft’s rewards system. Additionally, Japan has been added as a new region fully supported by this rewards framework.

Game Pass Quests: A New Experience

To qualify for rewards, players must engage with titles from the Game Pass catalog. It’s important to remember that gameplay through third-party launchers or platforms like Battle.net will not count toward rewards accumulation. The revamped Game Pass Quests system now includes daily, weekly, and monthly objectives designed to enhance player engagement and motivation. Here is a summary of the new quest structure:

  • Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes.
  • Weekly Streaks: Achieve playing for at least five days each week to build a streak. The longer the streak, the more points you can earn; a two-week streak doubles the base points, and a three-week streak triples it. Moreover, maintaining a streak of four weeks or more yields quadruple base points.
  • Monthly 4-Pack: Discover the variety within the Game Pass catalog by playing four distinct games (15 minutes each) each month.
  • Monthly 8-Pack: For those looking for more challenges, play eight different games (15 minutes each) every month. The games from the 4-Pack also contribute to this achievement.

Age Restrictions and Parental Guidance

Regarding the implemented age restriction, Microsoft released a statement addressing the rationale behind this change:

We are constantly evaluating the Xbox platform to ensure our continued commitment to foster positive, age-appropriate gaming experiences for our players to enjoy. Starting today, earning Rewards points via gameplay will only be available to Xbox players 18 years and older.

What Happens to Existing Rewards Points?

Players should note that any points previously accrued will remain intact within the Microsoft Rewards system. Additionally, Microsoft Rewards will still be available to gamers under 18, who can earn points through approved purchases, eligible Bing searches, and various non-gaming activities.
