Season 4, Part 1 Recap
Season 4, Part 1 picks up right after the time jump from the Season 3 finale. The Pogues celebrate their discovery of El Dorado’s gold, returning victorious to Kildare Island with newfound wealth of $1.1 million. This fortune initially empowers them to purchase land and develop Poguelandia 2.0.
However, their excitement quickly turns to despair as they overbid at the land auction and find themselves nearly out of funds. To mitigate their financial woes, they launch the Kildare County Surf Shop, an enterprise that sadly faces devastation following a raging storm. Consequently, the Pogues meet Wes Genrette, a man who allegedly holds the key to their solutions.
Wes proposes a daring treasure hunt for the legendary Blackbeard amulet, claiming that this hunt could potentially lift a 300-year curse on his family. In exchange, the Pogues would receive $50,000, including a $5,000 advance, a deal they eagerly accept. Unfortunately, they risk losing their property due to unexpected zoning changes if they fail to pay back the funds.
Despite their challenges, the crew retrieves the amulet, but during their encounter with a dubious character named Lightner, JJ and Kie find themselves in a dangerous predicament. After reporting the amulet’s recovery to Wes, they learn from Sheriff Shoupe that Lightner has met his demise, adding another layer of intrigue to their treasure hunt.
As suspicion breeds amongst the group, they realize Lightner was scheming for another treasure hunt centered around the mysterious Blue Crown, hinted to be associated with the amulet they now possess. Their attempts to gather intel result in a concerning incident where Cleo is abducted, putting their mission at risk.
Filled with escalating tension, by the end of Episode 4, the stakes rise dramatically as Lightner claims the amulet and brutally murders Cleo’s previous employer, Captain Terrance.

Cleo, driven by vengeance for Terrance’s murder, urges the group to proceed with the treasure hunt. However, during a crypt exploration, Pope and Sarah find themselves trapped, only to discover that Lightner is hot on their trail, managing to secure the very clues they were seeking.
In a shocking revelation during the finale, JJ learns from his father, Luke, that he is not actually related to him. Instead, JJ’s biological parents are Wes’ daughter, Larissa Genrette, and Chandler Groff, making him the unexpected heir to Wes Genrette’s legacy.
