Original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy arrives on Nintendo Switch this month

The eagerly awaited next chapter in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is just weeks away from its release, providing fans with an exciting opportunity to experience the originals on a portable device. Today, the developer GSC Game World, based in Ukraine, announced that the Nintendo Switch edition of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy will be available starting October 31.

Earlier this year, GSC Game World successfully launched this trilogy on Xbox and PlayStation platforms, covering both previous and current console generations. This release marks the first time a game from this renowned post-apocalyptic series will be playable on a Nintendo console.

The collection consists of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl (2007), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (2008), and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Prypiat (2009). The franchise has sold over 15 million copies to date, and the addition of the Switch’s portable playerbase is expected to further enhance those sales figures.

The Nintendo Switch version of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy will feature some exclusive enhancements. Players can look forward to a unique gyro aiming system for improved precision, touch controls, and compatibility with both handheld and docked modes. GSC Game World has partnered with MATABOO porting studio to ensure that these beloved games are fully optimized for the platform.

Meanwhile, the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the trilogy have also seen modding support introduced through Mod.Io in a post-launch update. Whether this functionality will be implemented for the Switch version in the future remains uncertain.

The bundled S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy will retail for $39.99 on the Nintendo Switch, with each game also available for individual purchase at $19.99 apiece.
