Oppo A55 and A16 receive Android 12 via ColorOS 12 beta program

Android 12 is the latest stable version of Android released last year. But it is still not available on many phones. Vendors such as Oppo are slowly rolling out the update to the remaining phones. The Oppo A55 and Oppo A16 are the two latest Oppo phones that are now getting Android 12 through the beta program. Let’s find out all about the ColorOS 12 beta based on Android 12 for Oppo A55 and Oppo A16.

In the first week of this month, Oppo shared the ColorOS 12 roadmap for June. But there was no information on the Oppo A55 and Oppo A16 updates in the roadmap. This means that these two phones should have received the update next month. But surprisingly, both devices managed to get the ColorOS 12 beta based on Android 12 earlier than expected.

We don’t have information about the ColorOS 12 beta build as it may take a few days before the update starts rolling out after applying for the ColorOS 12 beta. Since this is a major update for both the Oppo A55 and Oppo A16, you should be delighted with it. Now let’s check out some of the new features you can expect in the update.

ColorOS 12 beta based on Android 12 brings a host of new features, including: new inclusive design, 3D textured icons, Android 12 based widgets, new features for AOD, new privacy controls and many more features.

The ColorOS 12 beta based on Android 12 is currently live in India and Indonesia for both phones. And, as always, there are a few criteria that must be met before you can apply for the Oppo A55 or Oppo A16 ColorOS 12 beta program. You can find the requirements below.

  • There is a limit of 5,000 users, so you must apply before it exceeds the quota.
  • The ColorOS 12 Beta app will be available until June 29 (for A16) and June 30 (for A55).
  • Your phone must be running the latest build of ColorOS 11.
    • Oppo A55 – A.15
    • Oppo A16 – A.15 or A.17

If you are an Oppo A16 or Oppo A55 user in India or Indonesia and want to try the Android 12 beta on your phone, you can easily submit the ColorOS 12 beta app from your phone. Here’s how to participate in the Android 12 beta on Oppo phones.

  • Now go to software update and click the gear icon in the top right corner.
  • Now you will see the trial program option, click on it.
