On Wednesday, OpenAI made a substantial announcement, revealing that it will provide its ChatGPT Enterprise services to U. S.federal agencies for merely $1 in the coming year. This pivotal offer aims to democratize access to advanced generative AI tools for all federal workers at almost no expense. The initiative was outlined in a blog post by OpenAI and reported by notable outlets such as CNBC and Bloomberg. The offer includes full access to OpenAI’s enterprise features for government employees, encompassing enhanced data security, administrative controls, and unlimited usage of the AI model.

Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, highlighted the intention behind this strategic initiative, stating:

Helping civil servants be more productive, creative, and effective in their day-to-day work.

This approach complements OpenAI’s established efforts to cultivate stronger relationships with legislators and regulatory bodies. In June, the company launched the OpenAI for Government initiative, designed to tailor offerings to federal requirements. Additionally, OpenAI secured a $200 million contract with the U. S.Department of Defense.
