The OneXfly Apex boasts the impressive Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, featuring 16 Zen 5 cores accompanied by 32 threads. This configuration positions it at the forefront of handheld gaming performance. Notably, it includes the advanced Radeon 8060S graphics—capable of delivering 40 Compute Units, courtesy of RDNA 3.5 architecture. While OneXPlayer is known for its versatile offerings in gaming handhelds, the emergence of yet another Strix Halo-powered device raises the competitive stakes in this sector.

Currently, GPD has set the precedent with the launch of the Strix Halo-based WIN 5, positioning OneXPlayer to potentially introduce its device as the second competitor in this space—perhaps even overshadowing offerings from AYANEO. The OneXfly APEX is designed to harness maximum gaming performance, featuring an impressive 120W power capability, matching the Ryzen AI Max+ 395’s upper limit. To manage such power output effectively, the device incorporates innovative “Silent Liquid Cooling”technology, a feature not often seen in handheld gaming consoles.

While AYANEO previously explored Vapor Chamber cooling, a technology usually reserved for high-end gaming laptops, the advent of liquid cooling in handheld devices may signify a promising trend. Although specific details regarding the OneXfly APEX’s cooling system remain scarce, its design philosophy clearly aims to distinguish it from competitors. The handheld retains a familiar design, featuring an 8-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology.

Control mechanics for the OneXfly APEX are well thought out, with a standard handheld layout that includes ABXY face buttons, dual joysticks, a D-pad, and versatile adjustable multi-stage triggers incorporating both analog and micro-switch technology. Storage capacities will support mini SSDs, though additional specifications remain to be revealed. A key consideration for potential buyers will be the device’s battery life, and while it is uncertain if the APEX features a detachable battery akin to the GPD WIN 5, new information is expected shortly.
Update: Reports indicate that the OneXfly APEX will feature an 85Wh removable battery.
