OnexPlayer has unveiled its latest flagship handheld gaming device, the OneXfly Apex, which boasts an advanced liquid-cooled AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 SoC. This new handheld aims to provide gamers with a powerful portable option.
Introducing the OneXfly Apex: A Game-Changer with AMD Technology
Teased last month, the OneXfly Apex is positioned as a high-performance gaming device featuring the cutting-edge AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 SoC. While this chip has already made its mark in other portable consoles like the GPD Win 5 and Ayaneo Next 2, OneXPlayer is setting itself apart by delivering significant enhancements over the previous Ryzen AI 300 “Strix Point”series.

The AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 features an impressive architecture, integrating 16 “Zen 5″cores and 40 “RDNA 3.5″GPU cores, combined with a substantial cache and a speedy 256-bit LP5X memory controller. In performance assessments, this processor has demonstrated remarkable capabilities, consistently performing well at both a 120W and a reduced 54W TDP.

Equipped with a specialized liquid cooling system that supports full 120W TDP, the OneXfly Apex not only maintains optimal temperatures but also enhances performance consistency. Even without the external liquid cooling, users can expect the device to run effectively at 85-100W using its built-in air cooling solution.

The OneXfly Apex offers a variety of memory configurations, supporting up to 128 GB of LP5X-8000 RAM. This swift memory not only boosts overall performance but also allows users to allocate up to 96 GB of VRAM for the integrated GPU. This capability empowers the device to handle demanding AAA games at higher resolutions while facilitating advanced AI tasks, such as running 70B LLMs. Impressively, the XDNA 2 NPU included in the SoC delivers an impressive 50 TOPs of AI processing power.

The Apex’s efficient cooling solution incorporates two fans that provide an airflow of up to 6.70 CFM while ensuring quiet operation. Additionally, it features four heat pipes that make direct contact with the SoC, complemented by a heatsink with a generous 47, 200mm² coverage area.

Storage in the OneXfly Apex is another highlight, featuring a PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 slot with speeds up to 7100 MB/s and an additional PCIe 4.0 Mini SSD slot offering speeds of up to 3500 MB/s. Furthermore, a TF expansion slot supports microSD cards up to 2 TB at 300 MB/s speeds, allowing for extensive data storage capabilities of up to 8 TB combined.
Connectivity options include USB4 with 180W charging support, a DC-in jack, a USB 3.2 Type-A and Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack, accompanied by a fingerprint reader for added security.
